Trey Songz premiered a full stream of his fourth studio album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure, last night. The album is being released only one year after the super successful Ready. So we went in listening with our feelings about the quick release and maybe because we anticipated a mediocre offering, that’s just what we heard. Just about everything sounded like B-sides to the tracks from Ready. It’s a shame Trey Songz’s and Co. felt they needed to rush-release an album to keep up Songz’s appeal.
BUT WAIT! There was a period of bright light on the album. That brightness would be the “Here We Go Again (Intro)” Those 40 seconds were repeated ten times back-to-back. We just could not get enough of the Jerren “J-Kits” Spruill production. Then today, were reading through the album’s credits and released that one of the album’s bonus tracks (was not included in the stream) was also produced by J-Kits. After searching the song, entitled “Love Me Better”, our prayers were answered as it was the FULL version of the intro. Passion, Pain & Pleasure may be dull but the intro and the bonus track more than make up for it.

Trey Songz is coming quick with his latest album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure, which will hit stores on September 14. Just about two months before the release of the new album, the official first single surfaces entitled “Bottoms Up” and produced by Kane Beatz. The first single is a mindless liquor record for the clubs. Oh yea, and it features Nicki Minaj with new sound effects on display.
What we don’t like about this song is it’s like all the rest; you despise the song but hear it enough times and you will be hooked. We can appreciate that he stuck to his urban sound but at the same time hope that the success he’s attained over the past year does not deter him from making sensible and mature music.

Yesterday, Trey Songz announced the title of his fourth studio album to be released on September 14:
“Come see me perform your favorite songs live and hear new music from my upcoming album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure, for the first time. With the help of one of the best R&B female vocalists out today, my sister Monica, we promise you a night to remember”.
Passion, Pain & Pleasure, cool, interesting… Trey Songz’s mixtapes are usually better than his LP’s and it will only be a year and a month since the release of the last album, Ready, so who knows what’s the intention behind it. Here’s a new link that’s said to be a Timbaland production and may appear on the new album.

It’s been about 6-7 months since this video was shot but now we all can watch the video for Trey Songz’s “Yo Side of The Bed.”
In the video, Keri Hilson plays the role of Trey’s wife. Hilson departs, leaving Trey to care for their daughter as she is deployed to defend her country in the Army. Unfortunately, this video has no happy ending as you will experience after viewing it.
This video was laid out very well and it’s quite the opposite of the usual sex romp from him. Check out the video below for the “Purple Rain” cloned song.
With a brand new LP expected in September from Trey Songz, you better believe that material is about to fall from the sky. In a new one entitled “Already Taken” and produced by Polow Da Don Songz is going against his player persona and stating he is a one woman’s man.
After hearing this song Songz is going with the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” route because it continues a very familiar sound we’ve all heard before. Also, Polow Da Don is not stepping outside of the box at all with this production. But it works, reason being because the audience who Songz appeals to only appreciates a good voice and simple melodies. The artistry behind the music is irrelevant to them.

Trey Songz’s umpteenth smutty photoshoot hit the net earlier today. The photoshoot was from the newest issue of Vibe magazine. The photoshoot was not the only bit of media released to promote the R&B crooner. MTV caught up with former record exec Kevin Liles and revealed a ton of new information starting with a release of a new album this September:
“September 14th, new album. He’s not gonna stop,” Liles said last week during a sit-down with MTV News to promote Def Jam Rap Star. “He’s gonna keep his foot on people’s necks, and he’s going to make sure they understand that we have to redefine R&B. We have to go work hard every single day to be the best.”
Liles also made it clear that Songz will have a full schedule this fall:
September 14th, he’ll be back. He’s doing a theater tour coming up in August. He’s doing the BET Awards. The “MTV Unplugged,” which is amazing, sold out Roseland by itself, 3,000 people. It’s just a blessing to work with young talent.”
Finally, like most urban artists nowadays, Trey too will have a reality television show with Jeezy:
“We’ve got the Blueprint 3 [Tour experience] from the eyes of Jeezy and Trey Songz coming out,” Liles revealed. “The first show airs on BET on June 27, the night of the BET Awards. The show comes first, and then right after that, the BET Awards.” [SOURCE]
If you know us then you know Trey Songz is not our speed but we will not deny him the respect. He is really working hard and making a name for himself in the industry and after Ready he promised himself some longevity in the dying music industry.

When we saw this bit of news we could not resist posting it. Our FAVORITE track from Trey Songz’s Ready is receiving the single treatment. That song is “Yo Side of the Bed” which is heavily inspired by Prince’s “Purple Rain.” The video is being filmed in Los Angeles later this week. Keri Hilson will play video girl for a day as she will be the lady under the covers with Songz.
That over-the-top raunchy mess that was “I Invented Sex” made us cringe but heck he can do whatever he wants with Ms. Hilson we’re just glad the song is the next single. That’s a song both males and females can appreciate. It displays Songz in a vulnerable position and singing about missing his girl rather than flat out saying I want to have sex with her in the open road… You understand, GOOD!

Virginia native and R&B ‘heart-killah’ Trey Songz is HERE and will be blessing the ears of many with his third album entitled Ready. Due for a September 1, 2009 release under Song Book/Atlantic Records, the album displays Songz in a much more mature light than his previous releases. Songz was quoted by Billboard stating, “This album is very adult, very easygoing and very sexy… It feels cohesive and reflects the changes you see in me physically, with my new haircut, and everything else that represents me evolving into manhood”.
The album packs an impressive behind-the-scenes team; Stargate, Johnta Austin, Troy Taylor, Carlos “Los DaMystro” McKinney, Eric Hudson and Bryan-Michael Cox. With such well established and talented people working on this album it is no surprise at the outcome. The album also features Drake, Gucci Mane and Soulja Boy Tell’Em.
Those of you who are Twitter natives knew that every Monday Songz released a new song up until a month ago. These songs eventually showed up on his mixtape, Anticipation, and some on this new album. We held off from listening because we did not want to spoil the experience. That also went hand in hand with the fact that we were ready (no pun intended) to give Trey a chance. We never doubted his talent but “Mr. Lick-Lick Wet-Wet” seemed as though the only thing he was programmed, or trained to do was speak or sing about sex and in a very perverted way.
Well we can say for sure that while the topic of sex is still prevalent throughout this album it doesn’t sound as sleezy as it did so long before. We must commend Troy Taylor for his talent with the production on a chunk of this album. The songs with his name on it are really some of the standouts but by no means does that mean the whole album is not quality. Overall, ‘Ready’ is just a great collection of songs. We certainly recommend this album for anyone who likes R&B. Trey has never reached super-stardom but that is never guaranteed but what is guaranteed is a talent and Trey has an amazing one that is why he has longevity. PRE-ORDER HERE!

They certainly saved the best for last with “Yo Side Of the Bed”. At first listen there is no denying the song samples Prince’s “Purple Rain”. That’s alright though because Prince is in a league of his own so no need to feel he is being ‘swagga-jacked’. Just take your time and ENJOY this come-hither song.

“Be Where You Are” starts off in a signature Trey way; mid-tempo sensual voals and lyrics. At about 0:40 the tempo and instrumental picks up for the chorus then returns to its former pace. It’s an up and down ride for you to enjoy.
