  GINUWINE RETURNS WITH SIXTH…

  

  It’s been four years since Back II Da Basics was released. Now, Ginuwine is back with his sixth LP, A Man’s Thoughts. Everyone who knows anything about R&B knows Ginuwine is a veteran to the genre and it shines through with his latest effort. The album leaked this morning and we were able to give it a full listen. The vibe of the album is classic R&B. So for those of you feeling nostalgic then this is the album for you. Some may call it safe but it’s refreshing as so much R&B music today is mixed with other genres so being safe is a little fresh. A Man’s Thoughts hits stores next week on the 23rd.

  B.E.P.’s FIRST NUMBER ONE ALBUM

  

  Seems as though The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) means the beginning for the Black Eyed Peas as far as being #1 is concerned. “Boom Boom Pow” earned the Peas their first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Now, The E.N.D., according to weekly reports, shot to the top of the Billboard 200 to make it the Peas first #1 debut for an album. The album moved 304,000 units which is good. I mean let’s face it, the days of artists causing fans to line up outside record stores to first week sales of over a million is OVER. Lil Wayne is the only exception. This is also surprising because I was greatly under the impression that the Peas were #1 before. But of course, congratulations to them; a respectable foursome.

  MAJOR LAZER IS HERE

  

  DJ’s Diplo and Switch teamed up to create Major Lazer, a Jamaican commando who lost his arm in a secret zombie war in 1984. The resulting project from Major Lazer entitled Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do is jammed packed with well produced electro/DANCEHALL songs from beginning to end. iTunes is being nice and giving a free track away. • Double Post: Black Eyed Peas Edition

  It’s been awhile hasn’t it. It’s been four years since the Black Eyed Peas released Monkey Business. During that long break member Fergie released her solo debut, The Dutchess, to unexpected success. We mean the type of success where if she wanted she could’ve left the B.E.P.’s. but then that would mean the group would be back where they were many many years ago as Fergie did not join the group until 2003. Then there was Will.I.Am who tried his hand at the solo path. Although Songs About Girls was a decent album it really did not garner that much success when compared to Fergie’s project.

  Fast forward two years and music news reports had the Black Eyed Peas setting their comeback. It was also announced that this new album would be entitled The E.N.D. Many fans became  upset as they thought it truly was the end but it wasn’t exactly. It was revealed very shortly after that The E.N.D. is an acronym for Energy Never Dies. So that a worry for the fans was ceased, now the anticipation for the first single was high. “Boom Boom Pow” was later revealed to mixed reviews. Some liked the dance direction of the single and others just thought it wasn’t on par with the Peas’ previous material. Those nay opinions didn’t stop its success as it still currently sits on the Billboard Hot 100 after 8 weeks and is still going strong.

  As for the rest of the album the sound fits what the album’s main purpose is: designed to be constantly reworked through remixes, both in the recording studio and by DJ’s on the dance floor. The album does not follow the rules of making the listener love the album via  beat breaks or definitive narration. Instead it has lots of sound effects and flows that will hypnotize the listener into coming back for more and more. The E.N.D. does take a break from the pure house/dance vibe to make some songs with human feeling. Case in point, “I Gotta Feeling” and “Meet Me Halfway” both have have Fergie displaying some sort of emotion and turning the tempo down a notch so the listener can stop and think instead of dancing in this endless Peas’ party. There are many other highs and lows throughout this album. The bottom line is if you love the Black Eyed Peas and want a great dance/party album filled with radio and internet hits then The E.N.D. is for you. Be sure to go out and pick the album up when it hits stores June 9, 2009.

  Here is the Black Eyed Peas video for their official second single “I Gotta Feeling”. They score another successful vid with this one. The theme fits the song very well which is a kickback night out on the town as The Peas would do. Check it out!

  A large helping of Black Eyed Peas was put on everyone’s plate today. The final iTunes single release from The E.N.D., “Meet Me Halfway”, was one of them. Are the Peas churning out great music or what? This one is a really cool tune. For a song that could easily be a fun dance/pop track, both the instrumental and Fergie’s vocals provide the listener with a semi-intense feeling of love.

  Four other songs leaked, three from the album and a bonus or unreleased single. “Missing You, Party All the Time, Ring-a-Ling and I Can’t Make You Dance” are all decent songs. They’re not instant catch-ons as with the leaked previous material but with a few spins they’ll definitely have the listener hooked. It’s obvious that the Peas went with the international dance vibe for the whole album because each and every song thus far has it. Some may not be straight get up on your feet and let it go but all can receive a little head motion. The E.N.D. is in stores June 3.

• The Peas are Alive

  …And another Black Eyes Peas song from The E.N.D. has leaked. From the first few seconds we thought it was a b-side from Kanye’s 808′s… That’s not a bad thing by any means but we’re just stating. It’s an electronic mid-tempo song, good for nodding your head to whilst on those long drives. iTunes will have this one up as a promo single in anticipation for the the LP. We can’t say if this will be the best Peas album to date but it’s already shaping up to be a contender for 2009′s best album, in the mainstream market of course.

• UPDATE: B.E.P. “I Gotta Feeling”

  Here is the official second single from the Black Eyed Peas’ The E.N.D. The track is produced by David Guetta resulting in a less urban more pop sound. After a few listens it really becomes catchy but am I a fool or what? I’m listening and hearing all these Internet Explorer clicks. LOL it turns out the person who ripped the song. We finally have the CDQ.

• Imma Be Imma Imma Be

  So this new Black Eyed Peas song was put up as a LQ snippet on a handful of blogs yesterday. Now, “Imma Be” is here in full HQ and is set to appear on The E.N.D. Woah, this is song is sizzling, it’s the perfect song for a saunter. You know just the leisurely vocal style with a bass bumpin’ instrumental. The beat switch three quarters of the way through was unexpected and gave it an element of freshness. As good as this song is, this will not be the second single as “I Gotta Feeling” will be the follow-up single to “Boom Boom Pow”. This album will be a major success, we can feel it. Now if the record label would only change that album cover. The E.N.D is in stores June 9, 2009.
