The-Dream Lets Out His Inner Prince In “Yamaha” ‘Love King’ Leak

On this great Sunday, Fathers’ Day, the Deluxe Version of The-Dream’s Love King leaked a short while ago. After listening through the entire album, it’s a very solid effort, a very good album as a mater of fact. After the release of Love King, the single, we had doubts but the album turned out for the better. Our only complaint is that one of the tracks we were dying to hear from that behind-the-scenes VEVO video is not present.

Track #6, “Yamaha,” sees The-Dream revisit his undiluted Prince influences. “Fast Car”[LISTEN HERE] was his direct Prince ode on his first album and he’s back using a motor vehicle as a metaphor once again. Those synths, those trippy uptempo knocks, the 80′s influence… LOVE THIS DAMN SONG!

The-Dream Gat You “Turnt Out”

The second single from The-Dream’s LoveKing has dropped just in time for the album’s June 29 release.

“Turnt Out” follows in the mediocrity of the title track, “LoveKing.” Maybe Mr. Nash is saving the better singles for later because there are a few gems on the album but these first two offerings should have stayed as album cuts. “LoveKing” is being self-described as the best album of the three but from what we’ve heard, can’t really say that.

The-Dream is on the promo course for his 3rd LP, LoveKing, and he lands the cover of FADER‘s upcoming summer music issue. M.I.A. is doing the same for her /\/\ /\ Y /\ album:

The-Dream Covers Aaliyah’s “One In a Million”

The-Dream takes it back years to cover Aaliyah’s classic “One In a Million.” Anything Aaliyah related is welcomed as long at is decent.

No one will ever take this song from Aaliyah but there is no denying that The-Dream’s tone fits this song so well. It doesn’t hinder the experience of listening to the original in anyway. Isn’t it amazing how this song does not sound dated in the least bit? Long live Aaliyah and her beautiful self.

The-Dream Releases More Mediocrity With “Champagne” feat. Diddy

The-Dream’s LoveKing is due out next month and NMC dropped a track that will possibly appear on the album. The song is “Champagne,” features Diddy and samples Notorious B.I.G.’s “Player’s Antem.”

This song is really catchy but is really nothing to brag about. This is what, the 3rd or 4th track that will appear on Love King and they only sound decent enough to be on radio. Out of his all his solo efforts, this one is shaping up be the least brilliant. Also what was Diddy speakin’ about, “Holla at Dream for the 4th LP.” Isn’t this the 3rd?

T.I. & The-Dream Collaborate Again on “Love Again”

A new song has leaked, unfortunately with tags, from T.I. and The-Dream. The song entitled “Love Again” features The-Dream and is produced by him as well. No word on which project this song is for but will most likely be for T.I.’s upcoming release.

T.I. goes completely X-Rated with the lyrical content of this song, nothing surprising here. The song’s production is The-Dream’s signature type with horns and a melody to make you go happily insane. Man, the love relationships of these artists, they rap and sing about the most mess.

In other news T.I. related, his new album will be titled King Uncaged and he has already recorded with Jim Jonsin, B.o.B, Danja, and The Runners with the final product hitting music outlets on August 24. T.I. also spoke about the direction of the album:

“Paper Trail was a lot more about thoughts and this is more about feelings,” he explained. “This is significantly more aggressive. It’s going hard like classic T.I.”

Vibe magazine caught up with singer/SONGWRITER The-Dream where he laid down everything from his marriage to Christina Milian, him dumbing down his singing capabilities, his future musical projects and everything else relevant to the ATLien.

On the release of The Chronicles of Nicki EP:

[Laughs] She’s someone the fans always ask about, so I thought I should explain her more. The Chronicles of Nicki is just an eight-song set of me talking about who Nicki is, where she came from and really getting into detail about our situation. “Nicki Part Two” is on Love King, sandwiched between two other songs about her, “Yamaha” and “Abyss.” They’re all a part of the bigger picture.

On whether or not male artists feel the need to keep up looks like the females:

Yeah, it’s like that with a certain type of man. It depends on your appreciation for self and what people appreciate from you. I didn’t walk into this shit being appreciated for my abs. Even if I said ‘Fuck these lyrics’ and went to the gym everyday, I still wouldn’t be appreciated for that. You appreciate people for being comfortable with themselves. I would be too much if I was all cut up. Y’all wouldn’t want me. Think I talk shit now? [Sings] ‘There’s women swimming on my abs/Touching on my pecs/Licking on my muscles and ass cheek/Yeah’ [laughs] You don’t want that.

The-Dream appeared on BET’s 106 & Park to premiere the music video for the first single off of his LoveKing album.

A generic video for a generic song, c’mon The-Dream don’t do this to us. You can’t complain about not being nominated for a Grammy when your final production is like this.

Ciara Leaves Us “Speechless”, Well Sort Of

Yesterday, Ciara teased us with the kiss of news that her first single “Ride” would feature Ludacris and today the teasing went two steps further. We first get to hear “Speechless” featuring The-Dream as well as view some behind-the-scenes footage of the “Ride” music video with Ludacris.

“Speechless” displays the return of Ciara to a more urban sound which also focuses more on her vocals. It seems the magic that The-Dream used on Electrik Red’s debut LP and along with the little magic on Mariah Carey’s album from last year is being thrown all over CiCi. The song is smooth and has that signature The-Dream bassline. This leak does scare us though, because this is not even the first single and it has leaked.

Ciara – Speechless feat. The-Dream

To further the leaking curse, some sneaky snake recorded footage off of the set of Ciara’s “Ride” video with Ludacris which was shot today in Los Angeles. “Ride” is another smooth midtempo R&B jam, not to mention that Ciara is looking sexy to the core even from those LQ screen caps.
