Last night was the first time, since 2004′s Janet Jackson’s incident, that a Super Bowl’s Halftime Show consisted of a contemporary act. Yup, the Black Eyed Peas and two guests put on a twelve plus minute show for all the viewers.

The foursome kept it very PG with a medley of their hits: “I Gotta Feeling,” “Boom Boom Pow,” “Let’s Get It Started,” “Where Is the Love?” and “The Time (Dirty Bit).” In between, guitarist Slash performed “Sweet Child o’ Mine” with Fergie before Usher took to the stage to perform “OMG” with Will.i.am.

After watching the performance, it was cool. The Peas did excellent but everything since 2004 just seems okay with the exception of Prince’s Halftime show some years back.

Guitarist Slash recently released his self-titled solo album which features collaborations from Ozzy Osbourne to Fergie to Iggy Pop. More specifically, he collaborated with Maroon 5 front man, Adam Levine, on a song entitled “Gotten.”

Wow the guitar and Levine’s vocals are incredible on this one, perfect harmony. This song, like the rest of the album is a very solid piece of work. Slash tones it down with the guitar but turns up the turbo near the end. Ahhh, this song is on repeat.

If this song now has you fiending for new Maroon 5 then you are in luck. The band will return this year with a new album. Here’s what we know so far about the album HERE. Listen to the song after…

Guns ‘n’ Roses’ Slash is readying the release of his solo album, Slash ‘n’ Friends. A b-side from the album has leaked and it’s a cover of the band’s famous song “Paradise City” which features Fergie and Cypress Hill.

Maybe Fergie needs to consider taking a route that leads to something Rock because she has the voice for it. She doesn’t sound out of place or like she’s trying too hard, her voice just works for this kind of music. Also, Cypress Hill sounds very much like Kid Rock. It’s a very good cover but with most covers of classics, it may be be good but they never live up to the original.

Slash seems to be recording with a lot of the younger generation. He’ll definitely be exposed to a great deal of them as he’s the featured guitarist on Rihanna’s “Rockstar 101.”
