And the winner is…
Luckily for you all, you won’t have to wait until tonight to watch the video for Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette.” Rihanna finds herself in solitary confinement playing a game of Russian Roulette with her lover (Jesse Williams) in the dark and moody video directed by Anthony Mandler.
Despite the forced acting abilities of Rihanna this video is very impressive. The thumping bass matched with the visuals make our hearts race as we anticipate the next occurrence in the video. The video climaxes with ‘Psycho-esque’ scenes (You see Rihanna about to die but her death is not actually shown so you can only assume that she’s now dead). We love the scene of Rihanna in the open field with the car charging towards her; very grandeur. The video bleeds all things over-the-top but it works for this type of song. APPROVED!
It’s a Friday the 13th morning and Def Jam must be doing everything in their power right about now as the retail Rated R has leaked. With that occurrence, this will be the last song from track list that we post; “Rude Boy,” written by Ester Dean.
This is one of the standouts of Rated R. When listening to it, it doesn’t sound as vulgar as the lyrics make it out to be. Using a handful of car references like “Giddy up. Give it to me baby. Give it to me harder. Buckle up,” Rihanna is out on the town looking for rough and wild guy who can take control of her sexually. Sad as it may be, this is one of the very few upbeat songs on the album; it’s a fun and fresh track.
Rihanna took on her inner wildcat as she posed for the album packaging shoot for Rated R with photographer Ellen von Unwerth.
This video is just priceless. People can finally see that the girl really does have a personality and a fiery but fun one at that. “You like” in her German voice over, too cute. Anyway, just go ahead and watch the video before you get bored of reading more Rihanna admiration.
After the album preview, comes the leaks of the full songs. First up is “Cold Case Love” which is the Justin Timberlake & Rob Knox contribution to Rated R.
This song was one of the few that we really liked after hearing the album snippets. The song is quite long, coming in at a full 6:09. Timberlake and Knox do their best imitation of Timbaland with the production; starts off with organs then progresses with a heavy drum rhythm and electric guitar riff. This is one of the many “deep” ballads from Rihanna on the album and it’s apparent that her vocals have improved. Listen to the album preview…
It’s hard to keep up with Ms. Fenty nowadays. Anyone who runs a fansite for Rihanna will be working as hard as any blogger out there.
When “The Wait Is Ova” appeared on her site all of her record execs were saying when she appears again musically everything is going to happen fast and that it has. From the build up of interviews, the never ending paparazzi, and just the overall media blitz, it’s all flashing too quickly before our eyes.
So in light of this Rihanna overload she has been revealing more and more about her album. In an interview with the Associated Press yesterday she stated:
My album is so deep… I walked out the studio trying not to be in tears. [SOURCE]
She’s going on about how she is making the music she would want to hear and what not which is cool because she isn’t the newbie 16 year old who hit the scene back in 2005. anymore. But it seems Rihanna is really showing a whole new side musically that may end up leaving behind her younger fans.
Elliott Wilson, CEO of RapRadar.com, sat in L.A. Reids’ office today for a listening of Rated R where it’s apparent Rihanna has erased all streaks of sunshine:
“Giddy up. Give it to me baby. Give it to me harder. Buckle up.”… “I like the way you pull my hair”. Woah. Ok, I’m blushin’. Think she says “muthafuckin’”. Really potty mouth on this disc. She’s such a fuckin’ lady.
“Gangsta For Life,”… “I’m ready to roll”. “We don’t play that shit nigga?” [SOURCE]
Rihanna sure is lettin’ lose and of course there is nothing wrong with her saying and doing things of that nature; she’s a mature woman now. It’s just so strange that she’s changing so quickly.
Lastly, look at the cover for the second official single, “Hard” featuring Young Jeezy. It’s so sexed up and slutty. It really gives the illusion that she is nude, at first glance. Where does this image fit in with her “deep” album theme? The biggest surprise is that her label isn’t holding her on a leash to keep completely safe. I guess when you reach a certain level of fame you really can do anything. Is anyone else noticing how dangerously famous Rihanna is becoming? Y’know, the type of fame that affected Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, etc… Only time will tell…
Have we told you how much we love you, our viewers? Well if we haven’t, we really do. That’s why we want to show you all a little of our appreciation by doing our first giveaway. We thought, what would be a great first give away and then it clicked… Rated R. The album seems to be in high demand and we know some, or even more, of you will want it. Here’s how to win:

From the countless appearances this girl will be making in the upcoming weeks to the many leaks from her, WE ALL shall be tired of Rihanna before time. Hot97, about an hour ago, premiered another song from Rated R. This time it’s “Hard” feat. Young Jeezy.
Out of the three songs we’ve heard so far from this era, this is the best one. It’s probably safe to say that Rihanna has her signature on every EH, YAY, YEH, YEA, EY, AY, etc… you understand. Jeezy does his thing on the track and even takes a shot at Gucci Mane, “Louis Mane.” What else is new? This is another song where Rihanna will probably grab her crotch and do the gunshot fingers while she bounces and bops across the scene.
