First, before we get into it; Happy Independence Day Bahamas! This is our 36th anniversary as an independent nation. We hope everyone celebrating enjoys the rest of their day and parties safely.
Tapemasters Inc. has released their 27th edition of their The Future of R&B mixtape. This edition features exclusive new music from John Legend, Amerie, Ciara, The-Dream, Rick Ross, R. Kelly and Beyoncé.
NOTE: All songs are tagged

This new song from John Legend is entitled “When It Rains” and is less of Legend’s acoustic soul sound and more mainstream with a synthesized instrumental. Legend makes great music no matter what and this is one of the better songs of the six we’re showcasing in this post.

“Red Eye”, possibly to be featured on Amerie’s In Love & War turns the tempo down a few notches to create something very smooth and sensual. It seems there will be many sounds mixed into her album which has been pushed back one or two times now. Amerie is one of those artists who is underrated because she’s pretty and doesn’t have a Jennifer or Mariah voice. She truly is talented.
Amerie – Red Eye

What a surpirse, some new unreleased Beyoncé material. Bey is definitely an album artist; you rarely hear tracks from her until a new album is about to be released unlike many of today’s other artists. The sound of “Ice Cream Truck” would fit perfectly on a Destiny’s Child album or her debut Dangerously In Love. It definitely does not sound polished or has the added bells or whistles but it is the signature R&B sound Beyoncé started off with.

The-Dream who seems determined to release a dozen solo projects before 2010 also has a new song. “Something New” is very recognizable and may be a taste of what’s to come from the brilliant songwriter. The frantic beats in between and the wavy vocals make this a good song.
The-Dream – Something New

“She Knows What She Wants” featuring Rick Ross is R. Kelly singing about women, clubs and their provocative mannerisms. The tempo and instrumental of this song makes it seem less predatorial and Rick Ross lays down some his hard hitting lines to complement the song. Untitled is shaping up to be another good album from R. Kelly.

Ciara was on the 26th edition of this mixtape and she’s back with an unreleased one on the 27th. This one entitled “Cool On You” is mellow, ‘cool’, soulful and stripped down from all the extra… This most likely was a song for Fantasy Ride but was left off for not fitting with the rest of the album despite it being a good song. Give it a listen.
