Rihanna may have just decided to step up her performance game but the area she always had on lock is just getting tighter. Rihanna just scored herself her 9th #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 in a little over 5 years. That would be for the first single from LOUD, “Only Girl (In the World).” After that promo boost from her AMA performance and a price drop with the single itself, it was a plan that came out successful.
Rihanna now puts herself in the top 10 artists of all time with the most #1′s in the chart’s history. Although she has a good way to go before she touches Mariah Carey’s achievements, single-wise, she has conquered Carey in the amount of time it took an artist to reach 9 #1′s. Along with that, Rihanna has the most #1′s (7) on Billboard’s Pop chart. Rihanna’s #1′s on the Hot 100 are:
- SOS
- Umbrella
- Take a Bow
- Disturbia
- Live Your Life (T.I.)
- Rude Boy
- Love the Way You Lie (Eminem)
- What’s My Name feat. Drake
- Only Girl (In the World)
As if that wasn’t enough good news, LOUD, her fifth studio album debuted at #3 with the highest sales number of her career. The album shifted 206,000+ copies in its first week. Congrats to the girl and maybe next time she will debut at #1 on the Billboard 200.
