• Madonna’s Super Bowl.. And Nine Years Before…

  What’s so significant about the pairing of those two images above? Well, it was 2003 when Madonna took to the VMA stage with the top Pop female acts, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Fast forward almost nine years later to last evening’s Super Bowl halftime show and Madonna is paired with two of today’s top Pop mainstream acts. Still wandering the significance? The significance is the fact that she was the center then and she still is now. The point is Madonna is in a genre where age matters and she is still viewed as #1.

  What better way to start off the year, a month late, than with Madonna. The reigning matriarch of Pop has returned with a new era nearly four years since Hard Candy. The icon will release her twelfth studio album entitled MDNA on March 26. With over a month to go before the release of the album the era is already promising to be a good one.

• Britney Spears At The 2011 Billboard Music Awards

  Britney Spears hit the stage, not once but twice, at The 2011 Billboard Music Awards. The original Princess of Pop opened the show with Rihanna for the “Rihmix” to “S&M.” Much later, Spears hit the stage for a brief appearance during Nicki Minaj’s performance for “Till The World Ends.”

  Both of the performances were what you have come to expect from Britney although the “S&M” was bit more memorable and entertaining. With Nicki Minaj’s performance, it just lacked overall. Minaj’s stage performances will make you cringe and then on top of that it was like Brintey Spears walked out to present an award whilst singing miming. But despite all of that people still love Britney Spears. Watch the videos after…

  Britney Spears took Rihanna to #1 this week by jumping on the “Rihmix” of “S&M” and now it looks like some are trying to do the same for Spears. Tour mate, Nicki Minaj, and the song’s writer, Ke$ha, put their vocals on the remix for “Till The Worlds Ends.”

  Let’s be honest, Britney Spears’ music is always consistent but at this stage in her career the hype off of Spears name alone will push her to the top. Unfortunately the hype only lasts until she releases the first single. Her lack of real promo and connecting with the fans is a great part of why her eras aren’t as long as they could be.

  Enough jibber jabber, this is a good move and will possibly push the single to #1. Below is a snippet but we bet the full will be somethin’ else.

  We told you all that we would post as soon as this song leaked in CDQ. The studio version of David Guetta’s “Where Dem Girls At?” featuring Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj hit the net not too long ago. The single is set to appear on Guetta’s upcoming album.

  As basic and used as Dance/Pop music is these days, Guetta just whipped a hot one onto us. The melody, the switch-up of the beat, the dizzy bassline and ditty lyrics just make for one catchy song. Between this and “Who’s That Chick?” we domn’t know which is more fun.

• Wiz Khalifa & Nicki Minaj Top This Week’s Billboard Charts

  The Pittsburgh Steelers may not have won the Super Bowl but “Black and Yellow” is certainly a winner this week. That’s right, after 18 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Wiz Khalifa’s “Black Yellow” is the #1 song in the US this week with 2.3 million copies sold to date.

  “Black and Yellow” replaces Bruno Mars‘ “Grenade” followed by Katy Perry‘s “Firework.” This now makes it Perry’s third triple platinum single. Rounding out the top 5 is P!nk‘s “F**kin’ Perfect” and Dr. Dre‘s “I Need a Doctor” featuring Eminem.

  We guess the Britney Spears‘ “Hold It Against Me” was mainly hype after spending on’y one week at #1 and has since been fluctuating around the #10 spot. A congratulations goes out to Chris Brown who seems to finally be pulling through the negative attention. One of his many releases, “Look At Me Now,” featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes debuts at #11.

  In other Khalifa news, the video for “Roll Up” has been shot with Cassie as the leading lady.

• Nicki Minaj Is Put To Good Use On Last Night’s SNL

  Last night, on SNL, Nicki Minaj and Jesse Eisenberg were the guest entertainers. Both did well but Nicki Minaj put her multi-faceted self to good use; she performed two of her singles as well as performing in two skits.

  Minaj performed “Moment 4 Life” as well as “Right Thru Me.” Let’s just say Minaj may have performed her best on television during “Right Thru Me.” The tempo of the song met her dancing capabilities, the costume was over-the-top, in a good way and the minor reworkings of the song were a nice change. The only bad part about the performance was when Minaj tried to turn sanger (see 3:14) and ended up sounding like a… anyway, that’s not politically correct.

  
  

  Minaj took part in two skits; one was pure acting and another a musical sketch. The first was a collaboration with The Lonely Island in a song entitled “The Creep.” The song itself wasn’t so cool but Minaj alone was an attraction. Then there was her nothing-but-acting sketch: The Bride of Blackenstein. This one was actually funny. The skit parodied the 1970’s Blaxploitation movie genre and featured SNL regular Keenan Thompson and guest Jesse Eisenberg. View the acts after…

  Nicki Minaj premiered her lengthy new Chris Robinson-directed music video for “Moment 4 Life.” Both the video and song feature Drake, who plays Minaj’s love interest. The video follows a Cinderella plot with one of Nicki Minaj’s alter-ego’s, Martha aka Roman’s mother, making her debut visual appearance.

  Nicki Minaj is official Platinum status, as far as album sales go for Pink Friday. Something was missing from that album, what was it? It was a guest feature from Lil Wayne. There were plans to quickly get Minaj and Wayne into the studio together but time did not permit. So now Wayne is jumping on “Roman’s Revenge” for remix: 2.0.
