• New OneRepublic Making All the Right Moves

  OneRepublic is readying themselves for another round with their sophomore album Waking Up and the first single from that project, “All the Right Moves”. After scoring two top 20 hits with “Apologize” and “Stop & Stare”, how does their new single hold up?

  Well “All the Right Moves” is a bit of a change from them sonically. The song begins with church organs with the addition of a marching drum beat further followed by Tedder’s emphatic vocals for the hook. It’s really enjoyable but does have the signature Tedder ‘bump bump boom’ rhythm except it’s a bit stronger. We can see this song scoring them another hit. Go ahead and check it out!

  Just before, we brought you the 10 second preview and now here is the full version of Mariah Carey’s second(official) single of the 1984 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner.

  IMPRESSIVE! Mariah has brought the voice back from The Emancipation of Mimi era. After a string of generic songs from E=MC² and the buzz single “Obsessed” we get to hear that classic sound that the “lambs” have been waiting for. Not saying this isn’t radio’s close friend either because it has a lot of mainstream appeal which should help this to reach #1. When listening to it, it screams international which should help it reach high in the radio charts of many countries and will even have the average listener tuned in. This is not the greatest Mariah song but it is the best from her in some time. The only complaint is it seems as if the song fades too quickly despite it having a time of over 3 minutes.   Hot97 just premiered the most anticipated song of the week in the urban community 30 minutes late. Yup, Jay-Z’ official first single for The Blueprint³ entitled “Run This Town” with Rihanna singing the hook and Kanye assisting with an added verse just dropped.

  Hmmm it’s an alright song nothing to be blown away by; Rihanna’s vocals are still on the same level as they were last year and Kanye’s verse is the hottest part of the whole song. No matter what this will get airplay like nothing else. So go ahead and give it a listen.

• “Bump” With Trish

  Trish, a Canadian up and comer, recently released the video for her debut single “Bump”. We could not help but to post this. Urban, edgy and funky are three words that describe this song perfectly. Her vocals are reminiscent of T-Boz and in some parts she sounds a little like Left-Eye. This really is a hot jam and we hope she keeps the fire burning for her upcoming material.

  As for the video it was directed by Marc Andre Debrunye and is completely shot in infrared. We do not know if that was the purpose or if the budget was too small and they improvised. Well whatever the reason was the infrared adds to the dark and edgy vibe of the song. Shouts to Mileka.

• Whitney Houston’s “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength

  Well here you have it, Whitney Houston’s comeback single, ” I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”, from her upcoming album I Look to You. The internet is about to create a huge buzz.

  So as we do we have to give our perspective on the new single. First, no matter what the classic R&B lovers will eat this one up ’cause that’s just what it is, a classic run of the mill R&B song that would fit in the 90′s. It doesn’t push any boundaries or explore new territories BUT like we said the HYPE alone will push it to the top because everyone is just happy to have Whitney back. It’s been on repeat.

• UPDATE: Shakira’s 1st Single: La Loba (She Wolf)

  Everyone’s favorite hip shakin’ Colombian is back with her first single. Yeap, Shakira is back in a whole different way. Her new single “La Loba” which translates into “She Wolf” is completely different from what’s out there on the radio. From the disco inspired instrumental to the Wolf howls this single is the bizness! Because this song is so different it will end up one of two ways; it will be embraced by the masses or be a total failure. It’s hard to determine because the crowd Shakira captured with “Hips Don’t Lie” is much different to the average person that will love this song. Also, the video was shot on June 10 so look out for that in the near future.

  As for the album, it has been confirmed that Pharrell and Toby Gad has produced a portion of it. As Shakira usually does, there will be a Spanish album and an English album. They will be released later this year.

  Laslty, we’ll have the English version of the song when it leaks.

  UPDATE: We’ve added the official single cover for “La Loba”. The English version is due to leak within a week. Shakira is looking smoking hot as usual.

• Matthew’s Back On the Hook

  Ever since “Superstar” was revealed two years back I became a fan of Lupe’s music. It provoked me to listen to his previous material and appreciate it. A big part of the attraction with that song was the singing on the hook. At first I thought it was Chris from Coldplay but later found out it was Matthew Santos. Since then it seemed the formula to a successful rap single is to have a male vocalist singing the chorus unless you have the start quality to to sell your rhymes alone.

  Now he’s back with the first single, “Shining Down”, from his third upcoming LP entitled Lasers. Surprise surprise, Matthew is here to join him again and to lend his pipes. The song is cool but it’s definitely not “Superstar”. It will probably get the job done; making him have a more mainstream appeal. Check it!

• Tigerlily

  Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid aka Laroux are gearing up to release their self-titled debut on June 29. In the midst of all the antitcipation a new song from the album has leaked. This one entitled, “Tigerlily”, is another slammin’ electro synth tune. The hook has a nice melody and Elly’s vocals are smooth and sassy all at the same time. Check it out!

• 3rd Round: Official Paranoid Video w/ Rihanna

  So I guess the third time is the time they get it right. We reported last week how the Rihanna version that leaked was not the actual final video. Well here is the official video. It’s black and white and has the haunting atmosphere so this must be the video from the screencaps Kanye showed off. It’s a little more impressive than the last one but still isn’t out of this world.

• Dan Black “Symphonies”

  Dan Black has been cited as one of the top pop/electro acts to look out for in 2009 by all sorts of critics. The Parisian-based-Englishman covered Biggie’s “Hypnotize” with great success and is gearing up to release his debut on July 6th. His latest single, “Symphonies”, which is to be released on June 29 is one good song. You may recognize the drums in the instrumental which were borrowed from “Umbrella”. Let’s not forget that hook which is something beautiful. Below you can check out the video and the HQ audio rip for the single.
