Maya is to return to us musically in a short while so of course we’re going to drown you in her existence. Mathangi Arulpragasam better known as M.I.A. spoke with NME.com where she spoke some more on her forthcoming 3rd studio album. Below is an extraction of what she had to say:
“I wanted it to be, like, no gimmicks,” she said. “It’s my third album, and I have to kind of confront whether I am a musician or not. … I wanted to make something that you could play that isn’t, like, trendy just for three months or the length of a DJ’s attention span.” [SOURCE]
It has also been confirmed that the album is finished with the recording process and could even be released as early as Spring despite initial reports stating a Summer release. DJ Blaqstarr produces a lot on the album as well as long-time collaborators Diplo and Switch. Being surprised for the better is always a great thing with music and artists like M.I.A. still gives us a pleasant shock even with us watching her like bird.
