  Last week we teased you with “Ay Yo” from WQST Radio Presents: Melanie Fiona Meets The Illadelphonics A Live Remix Jam Session Of The Bridge. The mixtape was released on that same day but we thought we’d give you a little space. Well if you haven’t yet listened to it feel free to download it below. It is a great mixtape and showcases Fiona’s talent from every angle. The Bridge is in stores in both the UK and Canada and will hit US shelves on the 18th of August.

  We listened to a preview of Melanie Fiona’s The Bridge a week ago and it was seriously something spectacular; really soulful without being a snoozefest. Here is a song from her upcoming mixtape ?uestlove mixtape, “Ay Yo”. The mixtape’s purpose is to get the fans in anticipation for her new album. Melanie Fiona meets The Illadelphonics (A Live Remix Jam Session of THE BRIDGE) are all of her songs from her debut reworked with a live band. Included in the band are The Illadelphonics, ?uestlove on drums, Adam Blackstone on bass, Randy Bowland on guitar and Eric Wortham on keys. The Bridge is in stores August 18, 2009.

  This Melanie Fiona has been making quite the stir in the music industry as of late. She is a Canadian singer/songwriter born to Guyanese Immigrant parents and grew-up in the inner city of Toronto. The video for her debut single “Give It To Me Right” and the single itself have been getting fair play. Now another song from her upcoming debut album, The Bridge, entitled “Sad Songs” recently hit the ‘net. Her sound is soulful R&B with a touch of that island vibe. Be on the look out for Miss Fiona.
