Mariah Carey just released her holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, today and accompanying the album’s release is the video for “Oh Santa!,” the first single lifted from the project. The Ethan Lader-directed video takes us back to a 50′s NYC Christmas on a variety show. Carey takes center stage backed by an assorted group of people, watch below.
The first offering from Mariah Carey’s new holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, premiered exclusively on Popeater. The first song lifted from the November 2-project is entitled “Oh Santa!” The song picks up where “All I Want for Christmas Is You” stopped; “Oh Santa!” is a festive uptempo tune which makes the listener feel the snow no matter what the climate is.
As mentioned before Merry Christmas II You will feature four new songs, a new recording of “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” and covers of some classic Christmas songs including “Little Drummer Boy.” Take a listen to the upbeat “Oh Santa!” below.

The David LaChapelle-shot album art for Mariah Carey’s second holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, has surfaced. The album art displays Mariah Carey magically returned to slim form; her usual image of perfection.
The sequel holiday album will kick off with the lead single, “Oh Santa.” The album will also contain three more original songs and covers of classics such as “The First Noel,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” and “O Come All Ye Faithful.” We look forward to hearing the tunes.

Here’s someone who hasn’t been mentioned around these parts in awhile, Mariah Carey. Earlier this year, famed photog David LaChapelle was said to be shooting with Mariah Carey for the album packaging of a brand new Christmas album due out by the end of 2010. Well months have passed and details have emerged. Producer Bryan Michael-Cox recently had this to say:
“You guys have to hear the new stuff that we did for Mariah. We did a Christmas album and we mixed that like I guess a couple of weeks back so there should be another song soon – it’s called ‘Oh Santa.’ And then there’s a song that we got that she needs to finish. This crazy. I hope she gets the chance to finish the joint. It’s amazing. I don’t even want to talk about the songs. So amazing. I hope she finishes it.” [SOURCE]
This new album comes 16 years after Carey’s multi-platinum selling Merry Christmas. Expect Carey’s latest holiday offering, Merry Christmas II You, to arrive on November 2, 2010.
It was announced just a month ago that Mariah Carey entered the studio with Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox and Johnta Austin to begin the work on her follow-up studio album to the disappointing Memoirs Of an Imperfect Angel. Well Jermaine Dupri has spoken and given fans a time frame of when to expect the new material:
“We started last week and we don’t take long when we get in, so hopefully a single before the end of the year,” [SOURCE]
On top of this, Carey is to release a Christmas album in which she’s already shot the artwork for by famed photog, David LaChapelle. Well, we tell you what, we’re not excited in anyway for any new M.C. material so this may just be a good album.
With all the online media coverage of Mariah Cary’s least successful album, Memoirs Of an Imperfect Angel, we just threw in the towel and said oh the hell with it. Especially after the fact that we thought Carey would go on a hiatus and return and blow everyone away in a few years. Well, that idea was stomped a week or two ago when reports surfaced that she was to record a new studio album. Carey took to her Twitter account to officially announce the news last night:
“To all the Lambs in the land..Finally!!!Me& Jermash are in his studio reliving the splendor working on new ish”
If that was not enough, Jermaine Dupri sent out a tweet from his account as well:

So there you have it, the umpteenth Mariah Carey studio album is about to be recorded and produced. Accompanying M.C. and J.D. in the studio was Bryan Michael Cox. The threesome streamed live from a studio via Ustream and announced that it was only the first day of creating the new album.
Mimi Mimi, oh Mimi why must you feel the need to release new material like an ever-flowing fountain as if you’re a talentless popstar? We’re not saying Nick Cannon is in anyway way at fault for Carey’s mediocre albums BUT with him she’s in a perfect place and music probably is not the same for her, just a thought.
With news of Mariah Carey’s Angel’s Advocate remix album being shelved and the follow-up news that she is heading back into the studio to record a new studio album, most people think it’s best if she goes on a major hiatus to re-prioritize her music. Well current male Pop sensation, Justin Bieber, also had something to say about a possible duet with the diva, here’s how he replied:
“I don’t love her new music, it’s not the same,” the Canadian pop singing sensation told The Sun. “It’s like Michael Jordan coming back out to play in the NBA. She is past her best.” [SOURCE]
This boy has more sense than we give him credit for. Maybe he should have used some of that common sense to NOT take part in that “We Are the World” remake. Anyways, what Bieber said, 100 percent the truth. Mariah Carey may have been able to dish out album after album, year after year, but that’s when she was fresh on the scene. After 2 decades of endless releases an artist should start to take longer breaks in between albums. She had about 20 years of pent up talent to release when her first album came out… Take a break, and let the talent rebuild itself.
Simon Cowell has brought together some of the UK’s and US’ finest most popular musicians for a cover of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” for Haiti. The song feature such artists as Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Take That, Kylie, Robbie Williams, Cheryl Cole, Susan Boyle, Michael Buble, Mika, James Morrisson, Alexandra Burke, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Jon Bon Jovi, Westlife and JLS.
Not a bad song, it is not nearly as amazing as the original and will certainly not stand the ground the original did. It will still sell because of the cause behind it though. This song would have been perfect 2 years ago when everyone was comparing Mariah Carey and Leona Lewis, that’s all.
Carey and Minaj go red, pink and white with a Valentine’s Day vibe for “Up Out My Face.” Things are taken to a melodramatic halt for “Angels Cry” with Ne-Yo: full of rain and cheesy love.
We love that they included the interlude in the “Up Out My Face” video; we like the interlude better than the song. “Angels Cry” was pretty good; the video matched the overflow of lovey-dovey. Both videos look to be on that recession budget.
…and first up from Mariah Carey’s Angel’s Advocate remix album is the collaboration of her piano driven ballad, “Angel’s Cry” with Ne-Yo.
We like the original just as is so we weren’t looking out for this song too much. Ne-Yo complements the song well but it would be just the same if he was not featured on it. Despite us siding with the original, Ne-Yo adds an ingredient to the song that should help it along on radios.
