Lupe Fiasco’s Lasers will be here, finally, on March 8 but before then, the album’s second single is here. After releasing the über radio-friendly “The Show Goes On,” Fiasco has returned to his signature style of focusing on a true message. “Words I Never Said” is produced by Alex Da Kid with a feature from Skylar Grey. Alex Da Kid is really looking out for his artist, isn’t he?
“Words I Never Said” is controversial and politically-charged. It’s not Fiasco trying to create controversy for attention purposes, it’s just him voicing his opinion of some of today’s sizzling and sensitive topics. It’s been a long time coming but with each new bit of material that appears, the release of Lupe Fiasco’s Lasers becomes more and more of a reality. The thinking rapper unveiled the official album cover for Lasers, due out March 8.
Fiasco already released the lead single, “The Show Goes On.” It was more of a lighter sound, something that could appeal to regular radio listeners. But for the second single, Fiasco is getting all political and controversial with “Words I Never Said.” Take a look and listen at the teaser below.

Lupe Fiasco almost went to hell and back with his label, Atlantic Records, but quicker than anyone expected things turned around and his album had a release date. Lasers is now scheduled for a March 8, 2011 release. Even though singles were released from the project, a new song entitled “The Show Goes On” will now take the lead from the project.
Sonically, “The Show Goes On” is catchy and holds a better melody than most things Fiasco. The song is a well garnished appetizer that will catch on well with the radio. Of course some things are sacrificed and in this case it’s the depth and substance that’s missing from the regular Fiasco track. This is no surprise because whilst Fiasco is a true artist he is not a big seller or one to chart high. Primarily, this song will get the regular listener interested in the Lasers project before half of them run away due to the fact that the album does not contain mindless/bite-size tunes.
It’s Friday, or the day after and that means new Kanye, new G.O.O.D. Friday Saturday music. The latest to surface from the weekly tradition is “Don’t Look Down (The Phoenix Story).” Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco and Big Sean feature on the marching beat track.

Well good G.O.O.D. Friday to ya. The latest from Kanye, we mean Child Rebel Soldier (Kanye West, Pharrell & Lupe Fiasco), is a track what sounds to be a Neptunes production entitled “Don’t Stop.”
The track is another solid offering and it’s good to have the supergroup back together for this little reunion. Don’t stop Kanye, keep on doin’ you.

A K. West track hit the net yesterday entitled “Latitude” featuring Drake and Lupe Fiasco. It’s funny though, the song leaked some six months ago yet it popped up again yesterday in all its new found glory. The song is produced by DJ Cones, or Beatconector.
The song reassures us that the Kanye we love to hate is going nowhere: “Still the mother f***er you love to hate, but can’t because you love what I make.” He is not telling a complete lie; he is another one who we separate the artistry from the person. Both Drake and Fiasco lay down their signature styles of rapping to add more to an already great song. The production is so peaceful; it balances the boastful lyrics… complete serenity.

Kanye West – Latitude feat. Drake & Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco has contributed a bonus track for the Twilight: New Moon movie soundtrack. Written and produced by himself, “Solar Midnite” is “…more on the rock side of my musical catalog and comes straight from my die hard fanhood of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Anthony Keidis, one of my FAVORITE RAPPERS.” explains the rapper.
Forget about Lil Wayne’s Rebirth, Mr. Fiasco needs to go into the studio to create a rock album. This song more rock than a hybrid of that and hip-hop. “The song basically deals with the chaotic love story that takes place between the characters,” explain Lupe. The guitar riffs, the drums, the noise in his voice makes this feel right at home for a movie like Twilight.
We have been listening to Jack Splash through his productions for some time but had no idea who he was. Some of the mega stars he’s produced for are; Alicia Keys, Solange, Estelle, Missy Elliott, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend and the list goes on. As most producers do after some time he is releasing a solo project under the title Technology and Love Might Save Us All and will be released on Sept. 1, 2009. Below are three songs that are set to be featured on his debut and feature the likes of Kelis, Missy Elliott, Jazmine Sullivan and Lupe Fiasco.
“In the Future” features all the bells and whistles of any electro song; synthesizers, a little bit of autotune and a heavy dose of futurism (no pun intended). This song should make Kelis feel at home as it is right up her alley in terms of eclectic music. Splash has made a song in which you can feel the influence of George Clinton and Prince.

This collaboration with Missy Elliott and Jazmine Sullivan is like smooth magma. Here again there is a presence of Prince. Sullivan’s harmonies and her singing on the hook is like the icing on the cake. This song has all the right elements; Missy brings the hype for the party, Jack brings the retro flow and Jazmine adds the wavy melodical spin to top it off.

Last but not least is another smokin’ collaboration. This time it’s with left-field rapper Lupe Fiasco. “Flashback” starts off with the ‘bowed string instrument’ giving that symphony feel then the funky beat drops giving another production that would fit perfectly in the 70′s. Both of these male performers unique qualities complement each other for this song.

Ever since “Superstar” was revealed two years back I became a fan of Lupe’s music. It provoked me to listen to his previous material and appreciate it. A big part of the attraction with that song was the singing on the hook. At first I thought it was Chris from Coldplay but later found out it was Matthew Santos. Since then it seemed the formula to a successful rap single is to have a male vocalist singing the chorus unless you have the start quality to to sell your rhymes alone.
Now he’s back with the first single, “Shining Down”, from his third upcoming LP entitled Lasers. Surprise surprise, Matthew is here to join him again and to lend his pipes. The song is cool but it’s definitely not “Superstar”. It will probably get the job done; making him have a more mainstream appeal. Check it!
