Two of the girls from CW’s hit show Gossip Girl are venturing out from acting to singing.
Taylor Momsen and her band Pretty Reckless’ sound is rock for sure. The song’s title, “I Really F****** Love You”, gives us the impression that the band’s sound is going to be edgy if they release any further material. It’s a good start and surely they’ll have a following.

The always sexy Leighton Meester is the other Gossip Girl cast member to be heading in the music direction. I know the first thought when someone reads this is why doesn’t she go back to what she knows but Leighton has been independently doing the music thing for years.
Leighton’s song is a cover of the 80′s hit “Bette Davis Eyes” originally performed by Kim Carnes. It has a dance/pop/rock feel to it, it’s pretty catchy and her subtle vocals fit the overall feel of the song really well.
Leighton is pretty much on her way with her debut album as she is signed to Universal and is working with producers Kenna, JR Rotem, Polow Da Don, Harvey Mason Jnr, Spencer Nezey of Jupiter Rising & songwriter Kara DioGuardi. It doesn’t seem like she’s playing around with this debut. A successful crossover into music world seems highly possible for her.
I don’t know but there are similarities between her and both Jennifer Lopez and Queen Latifah. By that I mean JLo was an actress before she released On the 6 but everybody seems to think that she is a singer who wants to act. With Queen Latifah it’s basically the same, a lot of people think her releasing a Jazz album is something new but Queen has been rapping and singing with albums to prove it since the 90′s.
