• Get Funky In the “Midnight Hour” With Reflection Eternal & Estelle

  Rapper Talib Kweli and producer DJ Hi-Tek aka Reflection Eternal are about to release their newest LP, Revolutions Per Minute on the 20th of April. In what seems to be the first single is the Golden Oldies-esque “Midnight Hour” featuring our favorite lady with the awkward movements, Estelle.

  Ooooooooo mayne, we’re doing all kinds of undercut finger snaps and footwork. This song has such a vibe from the past and is so funky fly. Eternal and Estelle knock this one out of the park and if ever we hear this on the radio whilst driving we may have to pull over and start of own little dancing “Midnight Hour” session.

  The video premiere of Robin Thicke’s disco tinged “Rollacosta” featuring Estelle premiered a little earlier.

  The video is all aesthetics: beautiful people, nice clothes, and contemporary architecture. The scene of the video is an upscale cocktail social with everyone just having a good old time. Of course, there’s added element of sexual chemistry between Thicke and his video girls but what do you expect from a ladie’s man.

• Video Premiere: Estelle “Freak”

  After a delay, Estelle’s new video for “Freak” is here. The video was directed by Nabil Elderkin who has worked with the likes of Seal, Will.i.am, Common, Mr. Hudson, Kanye West and more.

  Elderkin definitely lends his artistic vision to Estelle with this fashion drenched futuristic clip. There are tons of effects in the video and it’s a bit amazing how all that was transformed from a bunch of green screens. It’s a change from Estelle’s more soulful style but it’s an evolution, even if more into the trendy realm.

• Estelle Can Be a “Freak”

  OHHHHHHHHHH my! Let’s get straight into this. David Guetta has produced a FUNKY dancefloor/club hit for Estelle. “Freak” features Kardinal Offishall and is the first single lifted from her third studio album All of Me. Estelle previewed her less soulful, more pop sound when she did the theme song for the Crystal Light commercial last year and this is another step towards that direction.

  The song sample’s Soul II Soul’s “Back To Life (However Do You Want Me)” and wow o wow all this energy and electro-dance funk is hittin’ all the right nerves. I think it’s safe to say, without getting a slap, that David Guetta is the top, near to being the top producer of the electro phase in mainstream music. Tune in later today for the video premiere of “Freak.”

• Estelle Gets Sexual in “Freak” New Single

  This is a bit different, today we hear a teaser of Estelle’s new single, “Freak,” the same time we see a teaser for the video. The single is lifted from Estelle’s forthcoming untitled third studio album. The single will feature Kardinal Offishall.

  The video looks like the perfect balance of funk and art and we are already diggin’ it. As for the single, who do we have to abduct to get a hold of it; the single is upbeat and as Estelle put it, “It’s a very sexual song.” Those dancers aren’t the only ones jammin’ out to the song. The video will premiere this Friday a 4p.m. EST and you know where to look when it premieres.

• They Still the…

  Back on the old blog we posted DJ Class’ B-more club track “I’m the Shit”. Both Kanye and Lil Jon did separate remixes and now Estelle has jumped on the remix with Kanye. Her verse adds a bit more fire but not too much. I just love that Baltimore club music. Check it out!
