• Nicki Minaj Covers Complex + Spits Out Some “Haterade”

  We must say, Complex magazine is ALWAYS on point. The other day they released the KiD CuDi cover story the other day and yesterday Nicki Minaj’s was released.

  On dumbing down her music so people can understand:

  Sometimes the shit I say is over people’s heads and I feel like I need to dumb it down a bit so people can understand it. I think if I had said a lot of raps in a particular voice, people would go, “Yo, that shit was hard”—but when you change up your voice a little bit, they can’t see past that. And they’re lookin’ at me like, “This bitch is stupid”—and I’m lookin’ at them like, “No, bitch, you’re stupid.” [Laughs.]

  On Diddy managing her:

  Who said that? Who told you that? Did I tell you that? I don’t want you to say “obviously” if I didn’t tell you that, so let’s start that question over.

  The entire interview is an interesting read (READ HERE) but it is obvious Nicki Minaj has her wall built high; she is doing her best not to let anyone pin-point her true personality.

  A new Gucci Mane song leaked yesterday as well which features the femcee and Pharrell. This song is really chilled and laid-back, listen.

• KiD CuDi Gives Most Truthful and Dark Interview In Complex

  In the latest issue of Complex magazine, KiD CuDi is letting nothing but his opinion flow with his feelings towards being dropped from Lady GaGa’s tour, fighting the mainstream, going against a Wale statement, his drug usage, amongst many other things.

  On being incomparable to his contemporaries:

  Did you see that Wale interview that he just did, comparing us to sports? Let me clear this up: I’m incomparable to anybody. I don’t care how people take that. No one can compete with me. I’m unfuckwittable; no one can knock me off my shit. I’m an unstoppable force, I’m a bullet. My trajectory is to the sky. Niggas got to do something really spectacular to fuck with me and my realm, and niggas be so bitter that you hear it in their voice.

  The sound of his next album:

  It’s explicit, but smart explicit. I’m not holding back. I have no regard for what people consider right or wrong. Some things I follow—like the law, from here on out. But other than that, I’m doing whatever the fuck I want to do. I’m not holding back. That’s why I’ve been so excited about this move to L.A., because I just want to keep growing creatively, all over, as a human being.

  His heavy drug use:

  I started doing cocaine to get through interviews, ’cause people wanted to know a lot about my personal life and I wasn’t prepared for a 60 Minutes interview every time. Doing bumps I was able to get through the day, but then I would smoke weed to calm me down—it was the only way I could get through the day without people noticing I was doing it. (more…)

• Drake Covers Feb./Mar. Issue of Complex Magazine

  In the first bit of serious promotion before his album is released, Drake covers bi-monthly magazine, Complex. In the issue which hits newsstands on February 8, Drake speaks about many topics including details on Thank Me Later. Below are some excerpts from the cover story:

  On how his injury brought him discipline:

  I was going so hard that the only way I could have ever slowed down was for something extremely painful to happen. I’m just glad I only tore my ACL and didn’t get shot or stabbed or anything. It was an injury that allowed me time for discipline. That was somebody watching over me and being like, “Look, you need to slow down.” If that had kept up, and I had done 50 or 60 shows before I tore my ACL, and I was at all these parties…I don’t know, man. I don’t know if I’d be where I’m at right now. As crazy as it may sound, I think that was how it was supposed to go. It was painful.

  On his previous endeavours to obtain fame:

  That’s gonna change. When Cole’s sound is the new sound that everybody wants to hear, he’s gonna be like, “I wanna be as big as possible with this shit.” I didn’t jeopardize anything to be in the position I’m in. You’re listening to the shit that I believe in, not some shit I did because I needed to get here. People just happen to embrace my shit. That’s very rare—but I also think the younger generation appreciates that brand of music, so I think it’s possible for one of these guys to emerge and do exactly what I’m doing.

  On working with Lil Wayne for Thank Me Later:

  Me and Wayne have done so much already, but if anybody has a repeat feature on this album, it’d probably be Wayne. We have a formula, a musical bond that works when we come together. I just wanna do it super-big—bigger than “Every Girl,” bigger than “Best I Ever Had.” I’d love to have a number-one record with Wayne. That’s the only record on the album that I think that way about.   Drake’s music, as a whole, does not stick with us too well. Don’t get us wrong there are a few songs of his that we think are incredible but… One thing is for sure, we didn’t need to read that interview to know that he has a good head on his shoulders and it will be good if he maintains that drive and focus. Our interest in his first single from Thank Me Later is pretty high though.

  Recently actress Lauren London sat down with Complex Magazine for an interview. here’s is some of what she had to say:

  We hear your idol is Barbra Streisand. Can’t say we saw that coming.
  Lauren London: You think because I’m some little black girl, I can’t love Barbara? [Laughs.] I’m the little half-black, half-Jewish girl who was odd and awkward. I try to be myself. Barbra didn’t look like Vivian Leigh or Lucille Ball: She was Barbra Streisand. She made her own mark.

  But you’re probably the only Streisand fan to appear on a Clipse mixtape.
  Lauren London: I’ve been knowing Pharrell and them since I was really, really young. They’re like family to me. Pusha is definitely my brother.

  It seems you’ve been connected to a number of people in the rap world.
  Lauren London: Most of those are rumors! I don’t have a lot of friends; most of the friends I have, I’ve had since high school.
  Fair enough.

  Lauren London: [Laughs.] So…what were you going to say?
  I was just going to ask about the kind of guys you’re attracted to. Are you attracted to rappers? [Laughs.]
  Lauren London: [Laughs.] No.

  OK, then how do you like your man to dress?
  Lauren London: For some odd reason, I like a man in sweatsuits. Obviously, you want your man to look good in a suit, but I like when men look comfortable and the swagger just stands out of that.

  And what should this man know before approaching you?
  Lauren London: Don’t be thirsty. Be comfortable in your own skin. Don’t mention anything about Hollywood and you’ll be OK. I don’t want to hear about your jet or your car. Be emotionally stable. I’m interested in a guy who’s a lover of God, a lover of music, a lover of poetry, a lover of women— “Lover of women”—that’s important. Lauren London: That’s very important

  That was a pretty decent interview seeing as she has nothing to promote so it lets the reader to understand her personality. She seems down to earth and it’s so good when a person can be in Hollywood but not fully absorbed by it.
