Last night was the first time, since 2004′s Janet Jackson’s incident, that a Super Bowl’s Halftime Show consisted of a contemporary act. Yup, the Black Eyed Peas and two guests put on a twelve plus minute show for all the viewers.
The foursome kept it very PG with a medley of their hits: “I Gotta Feeling,” “Boom Boom Pow,” “Let’s Get It Started,” “Where Is the Love?” and “The Time (Dirty Bit).” In between, guitarist Slash performed “Sweet Child o’ Mine” with Fergie before Usher took to the stage to perform “OMG” with Will.i.am.
After watching the performance, it was cool. The Peas did excellent but everything since 2004 just seems okay with the exception of Prince’s Halftime show some years back.
This time of year is the best for partying and celebrating but as far as blogging, not so much. However, there is one thing to look forward to during this time. This would be the incredible United State of Pop mash-up by DJ Earworm, this year entitled as “Don’t Stop the Pop.” The mash-up blends the top 25 hits of the Billboard Hot 100.
This year’s mash-up includes Ke$ha‘s “Tik Tok,” Bruno Mars‘ “Just the Way You Are,” Travie McCoy‘s “Billionaire” featuring Bruno Mars, B.o.B‘s “Nothin’ On You” featuring Bruno Mars and “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams, Lady GaGa‘s “Bad Romance” and Telephone featuring Beyoncé, Rihanna‘s “Rude Boy,” Eminem‘s “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie” featuring “Rihanna,” Taio Cruz‘s “Break Your Heart” featuring Ludacris and “Dynamite,” Enrique Iglesias‘ “I Like It” featuring Pitbull, Katy Perry‘s “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg and “Teenage Dream,” Mike Posner‘s “Cooler Than Me,” Black Eyed Peas‘ “Rock That Body” and “Imma Be,” Young Money‘s “Bedrock,” Iyaz‘s “Replay,” Lady Antebellum‘s “Need You Now,” Usher “OMG” featuring Will.i.am and “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” featuring Pitbull, Train “Hey, Soul Sister” and Jay-Z “Empire State of Mind” featuring Alicia Keys.
After two listens it’s obvious that the made-for-radio hits of 2010 focused on melodies. This isn’t Earworm’s best to date; the songs of 2010 allowed for pretty beats but they all don’t perfectly blend together. Despite that, Earworm’s 2010 effort has us reliving all the fun energy of 2010 in a little over 5 minutes.
In other news, those of you who are aged 13-17 and will be spending you New Year’s here, in The Bahamas, can check out DJ Earworm at Club Rush, at the Atlantis Resort, listen below.
The Black Eyed Peas, as you know, are releasing promo singles via iTunes for The Beginning. Along with that, they are releasing visuals for the singles. The newest is for “Light Up the Night.” The video involves The Beginning-era themed graphics intertwined with the lyrics running across the screen. Also, you can check out the video for “Do It Like This” after…
The Black Eyed Peas get digitized into Lego bits in their Rich Lee-directed video for “The Time (Dirty Bit),” the first single lifted from The Beginning. Will.i.am, Taboo, apl.de.ap and Fergie bounce from setting to setting in the carefree party environment. The Beginning is in stores on November 30.
We already posted some Black Eyed Peas just a short while ago but the entire album leaked this past weekend which means our review will be up on the album’s release date. However there are two songs on the album that we cannot wait to share so we’re gonna post them, right now. Those two songs happen to be “Love You long Time” and “The Best One Yet (The Boy).”
“Love You Long Time” just has the prettiest synth-melody, ever. It’s also the cutest duet, for the futuristic genration. Picture Grease (John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John) being filmed in this time. This song would perfectly fit one of there many duets. This is a fun song to play around with your girl or boy.

“The Best One Yet (The Boy)” is the ultimate feeling of ecstasy. You can just zone out to this song and ride the melody of the disco/dance beat. It almost has that “I Gotta Feeling” vibe but executed in a different way. We can only be appreciative that The Peas are making carefree and uptempo tunes.

Hot off their AMA performance comes The Black Eyed Peas’ promo single for week two of their iTunes deal. The latest single comes in the form of “Light Up the Night” which is lifted from The Beginning, out November 30.
It seems as though the Peas are trying to push their less dance flavored, more urban tinged tracks in hopes the American market will catch on. It’s become more-than-obvious that their House-infused “The Time (Dirty Bit),” hasn’t exactly had the same sales numbers as their singles from The E.N.D.
“Light Up the Night” samples Hip-Hop legend, Slick Rick, which makes you want to go back to the 90′s just to attend a house party. It’s fun, bouncy and signature Black Eyed Peas; we’re feelin’ it.

After picking up an award, The Black Eyed Peas took to the stage to perform “The Time (Dirty Bit)” off their upcoming album, The Beginning, in stores November 30. In usual Peas’ fashion, they put on a show making the crowd go crazy when the House music kicked in. The stage almost looked like a spectrum with all the bright colors and flashing lights. The energy was at a definite high with this performance.
The Peas are continuing to gain fans and critics as well as lose some with this new era but one thing is not changing, their are going to entertain.
The Black Eyed Peas did their first televised performance of their new single, “The Time (Dirty Bit),” from their new album, The Beginning, on Oprah yesterday.
The Peas, dressed in all white, performed a condensed version of their single in a Christmas-themed performance. The Peas then switched into their own version of the Christmas classic “Little Drummer Boy.” Be sure to catch the Peas perform at the 2010 American Music Awards this upcoming Sunday at 8pm EST on ABC. Check out the performance after…
Alright, now the heat is building up for this new Black Eyed Peas album. A new promo single from the album entitled “Do It Like This” just hit the net. Will.i.am spoke to SPIN.com about the track some time ago:
Like the two-part techno-funk epic “Imma Be,” the Black Eyed Peas splice together two club-ready jams into one five minute track. “Do It Like This” was months in the making. Will had left-over beats from working with Usher on “Oh My God” so he wanted to sample fans’ opinions before using them on Black Eyed Peas’ new tunes. After DJ’ing one night in Toronto, Will brought back strangers to play them his creations. “I told them, ‘Don’t be afraid to say its whack. Don’t tell me it’s cool because you’re being polite,’” says Will. “So I played them music and everybody was like, ‘Ugh!’”
Still, Will stands by the beats that make up “Do It Like This,” which has a dizzying, minimal German techno vibe. “I don’t care if you’ve shot a billion people and I don’t care if you’ve sold crack to the Pope,” says Will. “That beat is harder than any attitude or any freakin’ mug-shot face. It goes to a place no hip-hopper would go to right now.”
This song is definitely the sequel to “Imma Be.” With a psuedo-hood feel and ragga styled vocals, the song keeps you bouncithe song is hot but the two sounds do not blend well together but is lovely for those of you with short attention spans.
