Video Premiere: Kylie Minogue “Get Outta My Way”

Kylie & Co. enlisted AlexandLiane to direct the video for her second single off Aphrodite, “Get Outta My Way.”

The video just smacks you in the face with enticing visuals. Lighting, fashion and simplicity are the three main factors behind this video and it’s those three main components that make this video one heck of a piece stylized art. Everything looks perfect and Kylie looks like, well, a goddess. Check the video out below.

Video Premiere: Drake “Miss Me” feat. Lil Wayne

Overused music video director, Anthony Mandler, is behind the camera once again for Drake’s third Thank Me Later single, “Miss Me,” which features Lil Wayne.

If you’ve seen the video for “Over” and “Find Your Love” then you’ve seen this video. It’s Mandler up to his usual tricks; tinted editing with various lighting effects. The single choice itself is not the best but it does hold up as he goes into R&B mode in the end. Which leads into other news that his R&B mixtape is not too far away from its FREE release.

M.I.A. Premieres Videos For “XXXO” & “Illy Girl”

Almost a month after the release of M.I.A.’s 3rd studio album, /\/\ /\ Y /\, we finally get to see the Hype Williams-directed video for the official first single, “XXXO.”

Themed after the crazy album artwork, Williams and M.I.A. take the viewers on a colorful ride of transitioning effects. M.I.A. is as pretty as can be and ummm that’s all there is to say about the video, watch below.

Now “Illy Girl,” this song be bamboo bangin’ our brains in the best way possible, we go crazy for this song. With that said, we have something to say about this so-called video.

Now artists like M.I.A. are known for being avant-garde and abstract but what’s the excuse for this lazy clip? Is it being put forward as an optical illusion; M.I.A. looks to be walking forward but she’s actually standing still. There is no reason to justify a video like this except to say you want a video for every song on the album, no matter what the outcome is.

Correction: The clip is only for visual decoration on her official site.

Video Premiere: Katy Perry “Teenage Ecstasy Dream” + Third Single News

Yesterday, the video release of Katy Perry’s second single, “Teenage Dream,” premiered. The video which featured Perry’s actual friends was shot in Santa Barbara, California.

Katy Perry does a 180 with this video; where “California Gurls” was about fantasy this video plays more on realism. The video revolves around a road trip that Perry takes with her new boyfriend. Along the way, all the good of a brand new relationship is displayed: happiness, sex, etc… It really is a feel-good kinda video and Katy Perry, she is really on a roll.

Video Premiere: Christina Aguilera Wins With “You Lost Me”

aguilera

Before we get into this, we are STILL bumping Bionic. Forget the lack of support, the album is great and so is Christina Aguilera.

Now back to regular programming, WHY, Christina, why didn’t you release this song and video to lead the Bionic era. Sure, it goes against everything radio and summery fun but this is organic and talent at a high. The video, directed by Anthony Mandler, received a beautiful treatment that complemented the song as if it could not been better. Mandler, saved up his talent and released it into this video as it does not seem  like the million Rihanna videos he directed.

The emotions are displayed in a convincing way which pulls the viewers in and makes them connect with the pain that Aguilera sings about so heavenly. The clip, overall, is warm and heartfelt and is a far cry from the failed “Not Myself Tonight” video.

Video Premiere: T.I. “Got Your Back” feat. Keri Hilson

The video for T.I.’s insanely catchy made-for-radio tune, “Got Your Back,” featuring Keri Hilson has premiered. The single itself is from T.I.’s forthcoming album, King Uncaged, out September 28.

The video features cameos by Jill Marie Jones and Lance Gross. There’s not much to the video; it’s light on creativity and storyline much like the song. There are nice scenes of Keri Hilson looking oh too beautiful and T.I. looking dapper with that swag.

Video Premiere: Nicki Minaj is Overly Dramatic In “Your Love”

Nicki Minaj’s unexpected hit, “Your Love,” just received the video treatment and…

The video revolves around the storyline of Nicki Minaj being a samurai who falls for her master. Matters take a fatal twist when she battles her rival who shares the same feelings for the sensei. For such a tiny budget, creativity was used in place of a huge production, the entire clip flowed well but that ending… Just watch and see the video take a turn to corny proportions.

Video Premiere: Flo Rida “Club Can’t Handle Me”

The David Guetta produced “Club Can’t Handle Me” performed by Flo Rida is set to appear on the soundtrack for the Step Up 3D movie. The video just recently premiered and…

We avoided this song for the longest and then last night we just gave in and listened. This song is radio fodder, BUT it’s so good. The video is the usual uninspired club affair but like we just said, the song is good; it’s a perfect uptempo song for the night. Look out for Flo Rida’s next albu, The Only 1, later this year.
