Profiled: Matt Kemp For GQ

Ever since Rihanna knocked boots with LA Dodger’s player Matt Kemp, the public’s fascination with him has just skyrocketed. Only time will tell if this attention will be a blessing or a curse but for now he’s receiving some perks, such as posing for GQ magazine.

On his relationship with Rihanna:

“That’s a good friend of mine,” Kemp says cryptically but politely. “We hang out and have fun.”

On entertainers receiving more attention than athletes in LA:

“I don’t need a bunch of people or a security guard. Singers and actresses are going to get way more recognized than an athlete—unless you’re Kobe Bryant.”

Matt was also interviewed back in March, when the photoshoot took place and was overall very polite and kind about the 4 hour photoshoot:

On taking another similar opportunity:

“Why not?” he asked. “I had fun. They had the music going. It was a cool little crew. The cameraman was supposedly one of the best in the world.”

On his confidence in GQ magazine:

“I can pull anything off. That’s GQ magazine. They know what they’re doing. They make you look good. They can make anyone look good… They have computers, man,” Kemp said. [SOURCE]

Cool guy, he doesn’t seem as pigheaded as most athletes. Check out 3 more photos after…

SuperBowlXLIV

Yup yup, today is Superbowl XLIV. Now you don’t see much Sports coverage around these parts but events like the Superbowl just cannot be missed. Today’s game will be the Indianapolis Colts against the New Orleans Saints. The underdogs, Saints, have been getting some major support but will they take home the trophy for their first Superbowl game or will the Colts take it home?

Then of course there are the commercials. It was reported that companies were paying some 3 million USD for a 30 second spot. We look forward to being entertained.

The halftime show will feature The Who, who will perform will play a medley of their hits, including “Pinball Wizard”, “Who Are You”, “Baba O’Riley”, and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. Also look out for for Will.i.am’s and Slash’s remake of The Who’s “My Generation.” Listen to the 30 second snippet below.

One last thing, you would think with all that’s going on this weekend there would be tons of material to post. Well, we have more than enough celebs to post but not much new music.

John Madden Retires!

John Madden retires
The legendary John Madden has decided to retire from his television duties. Reports came today that he will not return for the upcoming NFL season. Here’s exactly what he had to say:

“It’s time,” Madden said. “I’m 73 years old. My 50th wedding anniversary is this fall. I have two great sons and their families and their five grandchildren are at an age now when they know when I’m home and, more importantly, when I’m not.”

Even if you’re someone who only watched an NFL game a few times you should recognize his voice, it was just that distinguishable. He had an NFL analyst career for 30 years across ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX. For sure it’s gonna be odd watching a game with no Madden in the background but no one can stay around forever.

Have a good retirement Mr. Madden!
