Los Rakas & Fabiola Wan’ “Hold Yuh” “Abrazame”

los rakas

Step aside Gyptian ’cause a threesome of Latins just took your Riddim and killed it. Spanish duo Los Rakas along with the Fabiola get into the Spanish vernacular for “Abrazame.”

Why is it that Latins make everything so insanely sexy? They can even make the most vulgar things seem oh so right. The vibe and flow of this song is knockin’ so so smoothly. Fabiola’s airy vocals are sonic sex. Just listen. Spotted over at Wolf Rizzla’s.

Lady Saw Gets NASTAYYYY On the ‘Hold Yuh’ Riddim

lady saw

We are still on that Gyptian “Hold Yuh” run and decided to look for other artists’ versions on the riddim. We came across Lady Saw’s explicit, xXx, bit of vulgarity.

In signature Lady Saw fashion, she is speakin in a very unlady like way. From the lyrics alone, this song should be filed under pornography. BUT you know what she has a crazy flow and we love this riddim. Now go ahead and soil your ears.

Better Extremely Late Than Never: Gyptian “Hold Yuh”

gyptian

Like we’ve mentioned before, Dancehall/Reggae/Culture/Bashment music is not what it used to be therefore we do not keep up with it. This would explain when a very good song surfaces we’re usually very late finding out about it. In this case, over a year late with Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh.”

Gyptian is one of our favorite culture singers because he delivers when it comes to falsettos and melodies. The subtlety of the Hold Yuh riddim with the piano loop is damn near beautiful. This riddim is currently being used on the Ted Smooth Remix of Rihanna’s “Rude Boy.” Thank you Robyn!

Sean Paul, “Fire Brigade”

Sean+Paul+sean_p21

Sean Paul’s last album, Imperial Blaze, was not one of his most successful despite being a pretty solid album. Not to worry though, he is a Dancehall artist and when new riddims are released you are bound to find him somewhere in the bunch of artists. For instance, the Gala Riddim just released a few more songs today and one of them is Sean Paul’s “Fire Brigade.”

Bleh, blah, bleh, it pains us to state this but Dancehall music is getting closer and closer to becoming sonic garbage. There are exceptions but Reggae, Dancehall, Culture and Bashment just aren’t boiling the way they used to. The implementation of autotune and Pop into those genres is a HUGE NO and that’s coming from us. The song below is Sean Paul, so it gets a pass.

It’s It’s, It’s Serani

serani when it's cold

Here’s a new one from Serani. The song is entitled “When It’s Cold” and it’s off the School Bell Riddim.

It’s a bubbly-bouncy mid-tempo track with Serani trying to win over the attention of some lady with constant praise and promises of protection. It’s nothing super but it’s a nice track to listen to.

Patti Cake Patti Cake… PUNANY :O

alison-rick-peter-rupee

Well it’s been awhile since we’ve found or listened to any Soca music so it was like a dip in cold water when we heard these songs. This new riddim entitled Patti Cake Riddim aka Punany….WAIT. These Caribbean people need to do better LOL. Between their music and our Bahamian culture music the lyrical content is so vulgar but still so comical. Oh for you non islanders Punany is another word for a woman’s vagina… yes!

Anyway the riddim features four well known artists down in that region; Alison Hinds, Rupee, Lil Rick and Peter Ram. What are those instruments called in the beginning? Well the rhythm of them sound very similar to the Krotches Remix of Sean Paul’s & Mr. Vegas’ “Hot Gal Today”. Carnival!
