YG enlists Meek Mill for “I’m a Thug.” The tune is the first single from the former’s upcoming mixtape entitled 4000 Degrees which will be released on March 26. DJ Mustard (Tyga’s “Rack City”) is the man behind the beat on this one.

The song is pretty decent. It’s no “Rack City” but for a mixtape cut it is a nice listen.

We’ll admit, we weren’t feeling the revolution in sound on M.I.A.’s latest album, /\/\ /\ Y /\, but that all changed when her Vicki Leekx mixtape was released on New Year’s.

The entire mixtape was great but there are two songs we keep going back to. The main one is “Murder Sound VIP” which is a Munchi production. The song is one big pot of sounds and shows off that raw, hype and wild edge we so love from M.I.A.

“Get Around” is the last track on the mixtape and as much as we hate, yes hate to use this word, this track has swag. It’s a perfect midtempo to just bounce to.

We’re still riding on that energy wave from Rye Rye’s remix of Ciara’s “Gimme Dat. Well the remix along with seventeen other tracks make Rye Rye’s brand new mixtape, RYEot PowRR.

The one hour, two minute and twenty-eight second long mix tape is adrenaline from beginning to end. Once again, DJ Sega is on board, helping bring life to the listeners with the Baltimore-native. Dawn Richard has stuck with Diddy through out all these years: Danity Kane and Dirty Money. Although she released the über-melodic “Falls Away” in January of 2009, her solo career never blossomed. Well now Richard is giving it another go with the release of her #ATELLTALEHEART:

“#ATELLTALEHEART is simply a compilation of emotions and feelings that if you were to fall into my heart, this is what my heart would sound like. It’s about my journey, my pain, my redemption, but above all my strength. It’s honest yet raw,” says Dawn.

“A few of my many favorite songs include; the heart-felt “Let Love In” – it’s a plea of those who can’t let go of the past and I am simply asking for a second chance. “Bulletproof”, was a song that I wrote right after experiencing the devastation of Katrina. The mix tape consists of 15 Valentine’s-appropriate tracks. The sound is very urban, with splashes of Pop. Richard has a very pretty voice and it shows in this latest project of hers.

Quez, Strap, and Ali who make up the rap trio of Travis Porter are here, again, with a brand new mixtape titled Money, Music, Magnums. The mix tape, hosted by DJ Teknikz, DJ Scream and DJ Drama, packs 19 tracks including a remix of their banger, “Bring It Back,” featuring Too $hort.

Woah, this trio are raw and raunchy to the core but they bring the heat for the club. The guys ease up off the hardness a bit for such tracks as “College Girl” and “Heartbreaker.” The mix tape was definitely worth the wait. Listen, download, do what you have to do.

You might know him from the song “Welcome to My Hood” or from the countless number of  beats he has produced over the years but now he’s back with his second mix tape titled Welcome To the House of Parliament.

He’s dubbed himself  ”Perry Ingraham” and is nothing short of the  top notch Prime Ministerial Maestro of Music! He is absolutely fierce on this tape. He goes hard and lets you know that he is the greatest.

Favorites from the nineteen track tape are “I Got That Work ” featuring Foots & Baigon, “On the Islands” featuring Lady Millz & Beezy and “Number Man” featuring So Serious. For all my rap heads and bass lovers, this tape is worth the download.

Five stars from track one to nineteen, “Welcome To the House of Parliament” is high grade music.  So light it up, puff it and pass.

Has the high of 1.11.11 died down yet? Well there’s some spillage into today. Actor/musician Khleo Thomas released his second mix tape, The Next Episode, a follow-up to last year’s The World Is A Cartoon.

The mixtape is twenty-one tracks long and from beginning to end it’s an interesting listen. With some original production to some borrowed Thomas really shows off what it takes to be a possible star. With such great songs such as “Her,” “S.I.N.G.L.E.,” “Monster + A Beat” and a handful more, Thomas is giving the listener quantity and quality wrapped into one.

Do any of you remember Khleo Thomas? Well if you do not he was known for his acting roles, most notably co-starring alongside Shia LaBeouf in Holes. Well, the guy is all grown up and switched paths into the field of music. Thomas is about to drop a new mixtape on 1-11-11 but before then he has released one entitled 2010 Memories. He was also recently featured in Indigo Charlie’s “Never Change.” Read below for some more info on Khleo:

Since the release of this mixtape we’ve given it quite a few spins. Jive singer/songwriter, Bei Maejor, released the second installment of his Upside Down mixtape serious, Hit Me Up; Upside Down 2, this past Black Friday. Months in anticipation, the day is finally here. After teasing us in his three part interview (pt. 1, 2, 3), Jay Complex releases his Underdog: The Mixtape today. We were lucky enough to listen to the mixtape a week before its release and we were definitely into the tape, to say the least.

To like Complex you have to come in for a true appreciation for the genre of Hip-Hop because he isn’t mainstream. The songs on Underdog represent Hip-Hop well but they aren’t necessarily songs that you could get a catchy feeling for on your favorite Top 40 radio station. It’s a great thing that we still have up-and-comers who represent an album’s artist and not a single’s artist. With the use of a lot of old school soul samples, Underdog brings the past into the present and reminds us of what Hip-Hop once was. Download after…

We made sure and listened to this mixtape before we even posted and y’know what, R.A.P.P. Quelle is getting right up there with that very limited list of rappers who we go bias for. After the Art: We Are Up is mostly made up of productions heard before on hit Hip-Hop jams. That’s not the highlight of the tape though, the highlight is Quelle’s lyrical ability. Guy really is a beast on the mic and his lyrics are sensible and filled with depth; that is something a great deal of his contemporaries lack.

Quelle raps over the Eminem’s “Not Afraid” in “Why Be Afraid,” he keeps it hype on “That Other Shit” along just keeping the flow alive throughout. “PSA: Private Service Announcement” is one damn smooth track with those drums. But wait, the intro of the mixtape, “Hoist the Colours,” sets the mood to that grand scale of EPIC: Hans Zimmer, now that is music. Y’all better get into this ‘tape, like now. Download after…

After a few hellish obstacles, singer/songwriter JoJo releases her “experimental” mixtape via Rap-Up.com today. The 11 track project features productions from Jordan Gatsby, Chad Hugo (The Neptunes), Kenna, Neff-U, Oak, and Beau Dozier.

After listening through the entire mixtape, JoJo’s “experimental” approach is her showing maturity and growth away from the mainstream norm rather than total left-field quirky material. If you’re a fan of the mixtape then you better take it all in now, while you can, because JoJo makes it clear that her third studio album will be a lot more radio-friendly.

Can’t Take That Away From Me is a praiseworthy piece of work and we love it to death because we can keep it on repeat like a catchy tune all whilst listening to solid music with depth.

Jay Complex spoke to us about his Underdog mixtape some months ago and now the days are nearing as the official mixtape cover art is here. Teaming up with BJM Photogrpahy, Jay stands in front of a chalkboard lined with the words, “I will not back down.” It is a strong message to show his drive, hunger, passion for what he does and where he wants to be.

Jay recently let loose another track from the mixtape and we are feeling this right about now.

Nineteen year-old singer/songwriter JoJo (WOW, she’s still that young) had all sorts of drama including music leaks and label issues since the release of her sophomore album, The High Road, four years ago. Well all that mess has somewhat vanished as she exclusively teamed up with Rap-Up.com to premiere her new music.

Firstly, JoJo is releasing a mixtape under the title Can’t Take That Away From Me before her third studio album. The first song from the mixtape was unveiled on Rap-Up this morning. The song is titled “In The Dark.” JoJo explains her musical experimentation with the popular site:

“I think ‘In the Dark’ is different than anything people have heard from me before,” JoJo says of the song, which was produced by Jordan Gatsby and co-written by JoJo and Gatsby. “It’s a very sensual record and there’s an undertone of sadness to it.” [SOURCE]

Whilst being experimental it is also stated that the song will not reflect the material of her third studio album. Drake was on Ustream the other night where he announced the Welcome Home Weezy tour. He also gave more details on his upcoming FREE R&B mixtape. He revealed the title of the mixtape to be It’s Never Enough.
