Trey’z Spin on that Sex Song

treysongz first date sex

Jeremih’s song “Birthday Sex” has been floating around the blogging world for awhile now and has become pretty popular despite its less than noticeable radio play. Now Trey Songz has recorded a cover. It’s a toss up between the two but I imagine most will prefer Trey Songz’ cover. It’s one of those sexy R&B songs that you don’t hear many male R&B artists perform these days.

RiRi Rundown

As of late Rihanna is being quite the jet-setter, traveling between Barbados, LA & New York. Tonight she’s supposed to be in New York for the 2009 Met Costume Ball. But on the music front we’re hearing more and more material (material as in demos) for Rihanna’s upcoming album. The first one is from Dawn (formerly of Danity Kane) and is titled “U.G.L.Y.” It’s a pretty catchy song sending out a message about how first impressions that may be wonderful may not be the truth in the end. Despite the song being alright it would be better if Rihanna leaves it because all the demo material leaking is not impressive. Just how they gave Rihanna a fresh sound on Good Girl Gone Bad they seem to be doing the opposite and recycling the style of that album to relive the success which is hardly ever the best route to go. On top of that a song with lyrics of that topic will sound like she’s speaking about the Chris Brown’s situation which everyone needs to get over.

This second demo is performed by an unknown artist and is titled “Terminator”. It’s not clear whether this will appear on the soundtrack for the movie or if this is just a random demo for Rihanna to sing. This one isn’t too hot but with some mastering and Rihanna’s “unique” vocals over the instrumental it might shape up to be a hit.

Last but not least is not a new Rihanna demo but is an artist named Christian covering Rihanna’s 2007 smash hit “Umbrella”. How many have covered this song now? Hmmm too many to count but this is one in the decent pile, not the worst and not the best. Give it a listen.

In some music news pertaining to the Bajan beauty Rihannadaily.com has reported that Good Girl Gone Bad has finally dropped out of the Billboard Top 200:

After 98 weeks – almost 2 years, Good Girl Gone Bad is out of the Billboard 200 (ranking of the 200 highest-selling music albums and EPs in the United States). More than 2,450,000 copies have been sold in the US and more than 7,800,000 copies worldwide.

Wow this is seriously impressive. We guess that the third time was definitely the charm for Rihanna but now we’re eager to see if her follow up will be a success or a major flop.

Viva La GaGa

Yesterday on BBC Radio 1 Lady GaGa covered Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” with her signature acoustic “UH UH OH’s”. She definitely did her own take on the song because it sounds very different from the original but what was cool is how she improvised after she forgot the lyrics, “…be my Chris and I’ll be your Gwyneth… I know Yves Saint Laurent, no he won’t call my name.” LOL you gotta love the over-the-top personality that is Lady GaGa. Listen to the radio rip below.

Covered In Human

Canadian dance-rock musician, Curtis Santiago, has covered The Killers’ “Human”. The track features Mickey Factz and is produced by Ill Angelo. This is a must-have for Killers’ fans, it’s a different yet appealing twist on the already popular and successful single from Las Vegas natives. Give it a listen.
