French Electro Pop act’s, M83, gem (“Midnight City”) has crossed over into the mainstream. The striking tune is featured in the commercial for 2011′s Victoria’s Secret Holiday commercial. The 30 second spot features Candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima, Lais Ribeiro, Erin Heatherton and Lindsay Ellingson. The commercial was shot in Prague… We smell crossover success for the Fench act.

This year’s VSFS (Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show) will have musical acts Kanye West, Cee-Lo Green and Maroon 5. The show is back home in New York, Miranda Kerr will wear the Fantasy Bra and oh, Karlie Kloss is 18 this year so there is a big chance she will be there. Another month, another fine issue from the STYLEZINE team. With summer and its heat being ever-present, the team over at STYLEZINE have come up with The Bay. The Bay is another take on a swimsuit issue… We briefly attended the mixer (1, 2) this past Saturday where we saw a little of what the issue had to offer. Well now we all can view it in full HERE. Think simple beach life and combine it with clean fun, fashion, culture and then you’ll have “The Bay.” It’s Stylezine’s editorial take on good vibes and the good life. Excited? So are we. From their teaser video it seems like it embodies exactly what one would want their island summers to be like.

The newest issue of the magazine is set to be released Tuesday July 4th but you can check it out 3 days earlier at their Social Mixer and viewing party held at The Marley Resort and Spa, Cable Beach.

And the blessings seem to be infinite for Theodore Elyett Sealy. The 26 year old Bahamian Fashion Designer has been chosen to represent our nation at the inaugural Caribbean International Fashion Week (CIFW) on June 8th, 2011 in New York City. Chosen from 365 applicants, the “Theodore Elyett” label will present its thirteen piece Spring/Summer 2011 collection titled Desert Sun. Read below, for Elyett’s appreciation:

” I feel truly blessed to have garnered the support from The Bahamian government to participate in the upcoming international Caribbean showcase,” said Theodore. He adds, “Having the opportunity to showcase in one of the fashion capitals of the world, New York City, is an awesome undertaking. But even more touching is the fact that I am being encouraged and financially supported on this venture by our very own government. When you couple that fact alongside the responsibility of being the sole representative for my country on the world’s stage, it just makes the experience and the thrill of participating even more enriching. I’m grateful to God for the favor I received in my bid to the Ministry for assistance, and I’m looking forward to putting my best foot forward.”

Elyett will be showcasing along with other Caribbean nations such as Curacao, St. Lucia, Barbados, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Trinidad, Turks and Caicos, amongst many more. Spending an intensive Summer course at Parsons, representing an entire country in CIFW and soaking whatever else NYC has to offer, yup, Elyett must be on cloud nine right now. The team over at STYLEZINE is definitely keeping its finger on the pulse with coverguy, Branville McCartney. With political season warming up by the day, the leader of the newly found DNA (Democraticc National Alliance) and MP for Bamboo Town is about to win over a crowd of the younger voters, or at least the hip ones. This issue will be an interesting read.

It was last year that budding fashion designer and Bahamian native, Theodore Elyett, won the Harl Taylor Scholarship to attend an intensive summer program at Parsons (The New School of Design in New York.) Well Summer is here and the future taste maker is taking us with him via online Journal posts. It’s all an inside look into parts of NYC and into the earlier times of a fashion staple in-the-making.

Day 1… NY seems to be a pretty exciting place. A melting pot of nationalities and cultures…a city of burgeoning talent, and endless possibilities.

Parsons really is an awesome institution! …Where else would you find the offices of Forbes Magazine, an Art & Design School and a Presbyterian Church sitting neatly in a row?

…Neatly wrapped around her neck, in gold, was a lovely chain, with a charm that showcased the glistening words, “BAD ASS!” lol…clearly she means business!

Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde + Vinoodh Matadin, styled by Nicola Formichetti and fitted in Mugler, GaGa has four separate covers for this special Asian issue of the magazine. It was confirmed that “The Edge of Glory” will be the third single from Born This Way, and not just a promo track. “There ain’t no reason that you and me should be alone tonight yea baby, tonight yea baby.”

After weeks of teasing us, Theodore Elyett’s Lookbook has finally been released AND two weeks earlier than we expected. Oh, we are not complaining, it is absolutely stunning.  If only we could look this good out in The Bahamian sun!

Spring is here and the latest issue of STYLEZINE magazine is circulating through the network like wildfire. This issue’s cover feature is Kristina McNeil, Cable 12 News Anchor. This issue dubbed, The Girl Next Door, is the magazine’s largest yet. Returning features such as “Kicks,” “La Femme” and more are back to prep us all for what’s going on in Summer of 2011.

In the latest issue entitled The Female Factor: The New Face of the Media, Pt. 1, four of The Bahamas’ top female reporters (Ianthia Smith, Sancheska Brown, Nikia Deveaux & Ava Turnquest) tackle the nation’s current issues as well as being a female within the industry… Stay tuned for more.

The March issue of STYLEZINE has been unveiled. Dubbed “The Girl Next Door,” the latest issue features a minimalistic photo of TV anchor, Kristina McNeil for the cover.

This issue is supposed to be very “corporate,” featuring a handful of the women in this country making an impact. This one will will be interesting to see.

Two days ago, the teaser cover of the latest issue of STYLEZINE magazine was released under the title of “The Girl Next Door.” With just a tease of who the covergirl was, today a video teaser is unveiled of who she is.
