GaGa & Co. are hip to every little movement that gets in the way of the well-oiled promo machine of the Born This Way era. A few teasers was all it took for Interscope to push up the release date of the second single, “Judas,” from April 19 to today.
GaGa reunited with RedOne, exploring her hit sound whilst keeping some of the vibe of “Born This Way.” The instrumental is blazing with hints of metal, dreamy synths and a heavy dose of electro/dance. With RedOne behind this one… “Judas” is to “Bad Romance” as “Bad Romance” is to “Poker Face.” They are all in the same vein whilst differing in sound according to the album era.
The song is another #1 for GaGa. The song is even predicted as being Billboard’s #1 next week. While GaGa’s sound may not be evolving as rapid as her image, she’s not forgetting that she is a Popstar, aside from being an artist. “Judas” is just as catchy as her previous hit singles. View an image from the “Judas” video after, one which will sure to be controversial…

Very disturbing…there is a line between artistry and being disrespectful…I think she’s gone too far…is she doing this to provoke and be controversial?
And she released this during holy week? A very sacred time for Christians?….I’m not against her but this is very disrespectful…there are other ways to express yourself…and freedom of expression is not absolute…
What is she trying to achieve with this? To show that everyone is entitled to their own interpretation? But does she need to go this far to make her point? I know fans will say that there are more problems in this world than worrying about Gaga? But she’s idolized by millions esp kids…she should know her responsibility to her fans…Is she even aware of the effects to children when they see this? Is she even aware that one of her fans actually killed a cat to drain of its blood and put it on her costume for her concert? is she even aware of herself?….I don’t know Gaga…I’m just disturbed with your recent actions/comments about religion/ song lyrics and now video….
Your a gaga fan right? Then why erase my comment? Im just expressing my self?
Um. She released her song TWO DAYS before Holy Week. Her song Judas was anything but blasphemous. If you all actually took the time to read up on a few( not biased) analyses, maybe you wouldn’t cling to your Bibles so hastily.
I’m not talking about the song, I’m referring to the picz…don’t you thinkits ditsurbing that’s she’s portraying a religious figure while holding her bosom…
What’s wrong with bosoms? Are they not what feed children? Its not a vulgar portrayal.
If Jesus all this time turned out to be a woman, and the history books got it wrong, all because of some patriarchal yada yada, then I wonder how Christians and modern western society would feel about the female body. Would you see it as less shameful or more than just an instrument for sexual titillation? Would you see it as a divinely beautiful creation and a gift?

Your argument is out of context, gender bias?C’mon…is that your interpretation that Gaga just want to empower women? But why does she have to use a religious figure?….This is not about religion, gender bias or who suppresses who…this is about respect…she or you may not believe with Christianity or the bible, but does she have to portray it in this way to get her message across? And why religion? there are so many portraits she can depict? She should at least be sensitive enough to know that Christians take their religion seriously…
It’s appaling reading some of the comment down here. expression is not absolute…? What does that even mean? Expression is limitless. Disrespectful? How? Using icons and mythological metaphor to create art? I hate to rock your ignorant world, but if you open any art history book you’lll see a lot worse than Gaga’s imagery and it was all done FOR the Church. I hate it when modern people get all jumpy because they’re ignorant of the past. Thank gods for Gaga using her life to open your eyes to limitless possibilities. That image of her as Mary (if it’s real, I haven’t seen proof) is not pornographic in anyway. The fact that anyone could think that just displaying the female body is for the purpose of arousal….it just shows how disgusting out modern society is. When collective unconscious is “owned” by certain groups, when sexuality is demonized to control people, when our own ignorance of our own bodies goes so far that women give up their rights without thought.
No, Thank God for Lady Gaga.
The fact that there is any conversation going on at all about her work is a blessing. The anger and the hate demonstrates how fearful everyone is. The fact that there’s conversations going on about how messed up mass religion really is and how it misses the point completely. Faith should fulfill you, not keep you empty. We should embrace and accept eachother, not divide, hate and tear eachother down.
Also, LADY GAGA IS A CHRISTIAN. She’s Catholic. If anyone has a right to use Catholic Imagery in their art, it’s a member of that faith.
You all seem very passionate about GaGa.
the women in those 2 pictures are CLEARLY NOT GaGa!
I think Gaga is doing an awesome thing, I actually didnt know who judas was until her song. You should be happy that she is bringing religion to the masses. I honestly thought the Aethiest would be angry, but i guess they are tolerent.
That’s another way of looking at it.
I think Gaga is overdoing it again! Please it is really disturbing..GAGA stop this..Do your own talents! RESPECT the Christina community..YOU NEED TO DIE!
This is not what you call entertainment@!
I have to say that as a christian and a Catholic, this is very offensive to my faith. I am appalled at what Lady Gaga is doing with this so called new song and video. It is very disturbing and disrespectful. How dare she promote such offense to Christianity. I understand that as an artist you should be creative; however, she has taken it too far. Shame on you!
I am amazed to see how many people truly need to find Jesus in their lives. Obviously, those of you applauding Lady Gaga’s disrespect to faith truly are the ones who need the prayers. Perhaps, the fact that you approve of such garbage only tells the world that you have no faith. When this happens, it is obvious that the enemy lives among us.
Oh and by the way DCM, it is not very nice to refer to the Christian community as “the ignorant world”. Those who are ignorant refuse to accept the truth (Christianity). Perhaps, I will pray for you and all those who still have yet to be convinced. By the way, God is spelled with a capital “G”, not gods.
Um, no one has released any pictures from the Judas video, lol. Neither of those pictures are Gaga or from the video.
I don’t think it will be as blasphemous as people are already claiming (before it’s even been released.)
I like how the first still of her as Mary Magdalene has her stretched in a very mannerist/baroque fashion. No one even knows what the message of the video will be yet, so I don’t see the point in getting your feathers ruffled over paradigms and archetypes.
I really believe she is going to help save the next generation from spiritual suicide. So many young people just give up on religion because they don’t agree with the viewpoints of specific other people or groups. Besides, I know many Northern European Catholics found the gory Spanish imagery of Christ very disturbing but that’s what the Spanish found inspirational. I think she looks so beautiful, like a painting, in these pictures. Not meant to be blasphemous at all. She prays all the time.
THESE AREN’T EVEN HER!!! These are fakes. You can tell, they don’t look anything like Gaga. Nobody has a damn clue what the video looks like. All of these religious nuts are freaking out for nothing. I think it’s funny how most Christians are the most judgmental people on the face of the planet. If you think what she is doing with Judas is offensive or blasphemy, you clearly do not understand and are too ignorant to even attempt to understand what the freaking song is about. Ever heard of something called a metaphor? Quit acting like religion is so precious and no one can channel it in anyway. Religion is not any more special than anything else channeled in pop music. Just because somebody uses religion in their work, why does it automatically have to be offensive? GET OVER YOURSELVES and quit begging for attention!! I swear I HATE religious freaks! I have nothing against religion but I do have A LOT against people who force it on you and think they are automatically right and everyone else is wrong and you can’t use religious symbolism without going to hell. Speaking of hell, SHUT THE HELL UP already. I’m seriously burn out on all of the crap Gaga has been getting from you ignorant freaks over this song! Enjoy it since you can’t enjoy anything else in life!!
This is ridiculous, everybody fighting against something that hasn’t happened yet. Congrats to Gaga, the controversy has already begin. Personally, I love her songs but I don’t like her videos, so I don’t really care about the content of it.
well I’m glad the ‘little monsters’ are putting up such great arguments on this one lol . . . Im not here to call people who disagree with me ignorant, though. I wouldn’t call myself a Gaga fan, she’s not really my thing, but I have to say when it comes to art, nothing is sacred; give people room to share they’re interpretations even if you don’t like them. Do you know how offended many people are by these religions? You don’t stifle yourselves for their benefit so don’t do the same. No one knows if she’s even being disrespectful yet, so calm down, don’t act so guarded and point your trembling fingers somewhere actually worth it, not at a fucking pop star.
I’m catholic, and Italian (so yes, I’m very very catholic) but still Gaga didn’t offend me or my faith, or said it’s stupid (like someone who says that Jesus is the first zombie or wathever, for example).
She just used the Bible as a metaphor to convey her feelings and her message -that is not negative- like a lot of other autors (of any kind) before her.
Why? You may ask. Well, if you think about it you notice that christian iconography and part of ideology is part of western culture so is also part of everyone knowledge here, it’s the most easy way to be understood.
It’s natural for someone who is part of this culture to find in christianity the best way to express feelings of faith, betrayal, guilts, repent: because the way we, western people, thinks about these feelings and topics came from christianity itself, like from a dictionary.
I know my english is bad, I didn’t meant to be absolute or arrogant I just wanted to share my idea about this song, GaGa and my Faith.
I believe that we should love God enough to not be offended by anything exept ourselves.
