Remember back in 2009 when Kelly Rowland showed signs of being a major Pop force within the music industry? Well a handful of pushbacks and generic releases later, Rowland is still pushing for a new album release. She’s taking a backflip to her urban sound by enlisting Lil Wayne and producer Jim Jonsin for the supposed first single, “Motivation.”
Maybe Rowland did get the right motivation ’cause the song is not half bad. It’s a nice midtempo track that is worthy of multiple listens but certainly is nothing to be a Billboard Hot 100 top 10 contender.

i love it! it’s amazing
unfortonately, it sounds like nothing on the radio and is destined to be a flop.
this would be a great album cut, but as a lead single? ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME?
I swear the music industry executives are idiots.
Yeap, it is quite good sounding but… it’s like it’s an intentional choice to make sure the artist stays where they are at instead of elevating them.
7 weeks after this initial review, this song is set to crack the top 20 on the R&B charts, while possibly cracking the top 40 on the Hot 100 chart this week.
One thing about this song is that it sounds GREAT in the clubs. And when you have a potential club banger as a mid-tempo/slow jam, it’s set to do well on the R&B chart.
The females will drive this song up the charts, and may be in the top 5 on the R&B chart by Memorial Day. Whether it’ll be a top 20 song on the Hot 100 chart remains to be seen, as the song might be a little too sexy and urban for the popish Hot 100.
