It’s been a long-time coming since we first heard Bodine ‘Be’ Johnson’s single, “Intoxicated,” at the beginning of 2009. Produced by British Virgin Island Producer Lincoln Ward, the soca soaked jam with it’s “Tide Is High” melody was instantly infectious. Since then the song has received a Junkanoo remix which eases the anticipation of the festivities at year’s end:
So far, Intoxicated the O2 Junkanoo Re-Fix has been met with wide approval and is seen as another example of non-traditional Bahamian artists bridging the gap between contemporary Bahamian Music and Traditional Junkanoo Music. Be says, “I wanted to create a song that showed the energy, passion and versatility behind Junkanoo Music. When I sat down with Overlord and described what I wanted to hear, he knew automatically how to make it happen and he did. Now, we’ve created a single that I feel will show the strength of Bahamian Music”.
‘Be’ really has that thick and curvy body that the island folks go crazy over and her rhythm translates into fire. The launch party for the video this past Thursday had a great turn out. The new season may be near but this song can be played year round.
