She epitomizes the level of weird that GaGa only wishes to attain and she’s more classic than Amy Winehouse at her best (minus the side the crack of course). She’s just Janelle. She brings an encouraging amount of energy with loads of creativity to spare with this album. She’s the most interesting blend of rock, soul and electrofunk all rolled into one.
The album, “The ArchAndroid” which was produced by Nate Wonder, Chuck Lightning, Sean “Diddy” Combs and herself was also co-exec produced by Big Boi of Outkast who is also featured on her single “Tightrope”. The 18 track album does not disappoint with its funky tracks like “Faster”, “Dance or Die” and “Wondaland” that are sure to have you possessed with the power of the spirit fingers.
Monáe showcases her awesome vocals with the ability to smudge genre barriers and go from rocking tracks like “Come Alive (War of the Roses)” to smooth smokey soulful tracks like “Oh, Maker,” “BaBopBye Ya” and “Sir Greendown”.
We’re excited as hell to hear more from Monáe so bottom line, a fantastic collection of music, two thumbs up.

I must agree with this review, as I (oddly enough) knew nothing about Ms. Monae until Tightrope which did wonders with drawing me in. the seamlessness with which the album is constructed is grand and should be heard if only for that. I didnt know i heard five tracks until the mood change in Cold War. I do love this. Listening to it now. Reminds me of The Love Below.. very thematic and awesomely hemmed. Amp Approved.
