• Video Premiere: Nicki Minaj “Massive Attack” feat. Sean Garrett

  Nicki Minaj was just on BET’s 106 & Park to premiere the Hype Williams directed video for “Massive Attack.” The video features Sean Garrett and Birdman along with Amber Rose make cameos.

  First, we have a confession; the song is starting to grow on us. The production is some left-field type of  material Missy Elliot would throw at us. The problem with the song is neither Garrett nor Minaj have that je ne sais quoi to translate the sound to the listeners. Our guess is Minaj was stepping outside of the usual pop/urban regimen and had not quite mastered how to flow over such a record.

  Now, on to the video. Sex, colors and a small dose of absurdity is the name of this video. Yes, Minaj implements some military routine to match the song but overall the video just does not state the plot without it having to be said or written. The infinite jointed men with demon contacts were another visual but made hardly any sense. Check the video out!

• Video Premiere: Janelle Monáe

  MTV just premiered the video for the ever so cute Janelle Monáe’s “Tightrope” featuring Big Boi which is the first single lifted off of her album, The ArchAndroid.

  The Wendy Morgan directed video has Monáe’s signature style all over it. Monáe and her entourage clad in all black take us on a funky ride through an insane asylum. Now that we think of it, after seeing all the dancing and hearing her voice, she really reminds us of the little Michael Jackson from the Jackson 5 days.

  What a great video this is, man this week has been a good week for music releases. *Does the “Tightrope dance*

  P.S. What is that music played in the intro of the video, we HOPE it’s used on the album.

  Dr. Dre’s Detox album has been delayed more times than you can count on two hands but when the perfectionist finally drops his first single we may all need to be revived.

  Rumors sparked when powerhouse Jay-Z was said to be on the album’s first single. Now Aftermathmusic.com has leaked images and quotes that this may be true.

• Video Premiere: Mini Viva “One Touch”

  Mini Viva released the video for their third single, “One Touch,” yesterday. The Simon Fuller (American Idol creator) managed duo turn the tempo up for the new video.

  The video is a bunch of glamorous visuals with the ladies looking extra good. This is the duo’s third single and video and still no album in sight which makes us wonder if the pint-size pop singers will even last ’til the end of 2010. Until that decision is made, Viva La Mini.

• “Hear Me Calling” Shanell

  Lil Wayne’s girl, D. Woodz’s sister, SNL, whatever you want to call her, Shanell has a new song that just hit the net and we are liking it a lot. The Aaron Foster produced song is from Shanell’s mixtape Shut Up N Listen which is out Thursday.

  “Hear Me Calling” is an urban pop ballad with those epic undertones. This marks another song on the list that we like from Shanell because literally everything we’ve heard of hers or what she’s been featured in, we like. Check it out!

  Issue 2 of eLIFE242 magazine for 2010 is about to hit Bahamian newsstands tomorrow. This issue’s feature story is Bahamian basketball player Mitchell Johnson. Johnson speaks about being drafted into the NBA’s D-League amongst other things. • Ciara Leaves Us “Speechless”, Well Sort Of

  Yesterday, Ciara teased us with the kiss of news that her first single “Ride” would feature Ludacris and today the teasing went two steps further. We first get to hear “Speechless” featuring The-Dream as well as view some behind-the-scenes footage of the “Ride” music video with Ludacris.

  “Speechless” displays the return of Ciara to a more urban sound which also focuses more on her vocals. It seems the magic that The-Dream used on Electrik Red’s debut LP and along with the little magic on Mariah Carey’s album from last year is being thrown all over CiCi. The song is smooth and has that signature The-Dream bassline. This leak does scare us though, because this is not even the first single and it has leaked.

  Ciara – Speechless feat. The-Dream

  To further the leaking curse, some sneaky snake recorded footage off of the set of Ciara’s “Ride” video with Ludacris which was shot today in Los Angeles. “Ride” is another smooth midtempo R&B jam, not to mention that Ciara is looking sexy to the core even from those LQ screen caps. • LISTEN IN FULL! Christina Aguilera “Not Myself Tonight”

  Christina Aguilera premiered “Not Myself Tonight” over on her radio station and let us say we apologize for all of our skepticism because this song is BLAZIN’. We’re so into this song right now so we’ll steal borrow Proph’s words on the single:

  Produced by Polow Da Don and penned by Ester Dean, “Not Myself Tonight” is literally the club banger to end all club bangers. The song takes all the best parts from 90’s house music, urban beats and electro, and mixes them all together to create something cutting edge and fresh that’ll sound at home, in the club, the car, the radio and about every other place you can possibly imagine playing it.

  I can definitely hear elements of Lady GaGa in this, as well as a lot of Britney and some of Janet’s “Feedback”, but “Not Myself Tonight” is like GaGa on steroids and then multiplied. Christina does put her own stamp on the song though, mainly thanks to her powerhouse vocals which are often imitated but never duplicated.

• Art or Just Plain Freaky? MGMT “Flash Delirium” Video Premiere

  Indie band MGMT has taken matters far pass left for their “Flash Delirium” video. Remember now, you can do whatever you want with the music from their sophomore album just don’t call any of the music a single.

  What in the… that was just plain disgusting. What was running through their heads when they concocted the storyline for this video. Congratulations is supposed to be based on the whirlwind they’ve experienced since the first album’s release. If this video reflects, in anyway, some of their life experiences then… *speechless*.
