This past week at the Dipdive Data awards, y’know the one where everyone and their alter-egos criticized Kelis’ “unique” outfit, she performed three of her songs. The one in which people were looking forward to, her premiere performance of “4th of July” was made private so until a few hours ago viewers and listeners have just become acquainted with the song.
We’re in shock once again. With each leak from Flesh Tone it hits us like a pile of bricks that Kelis is making a full-on dance/electro album. All of these songs sound like club DJ remixes. It’s a bittersweet thing because whilst we do enjoy the genre a whole album of it is not our thing. I mean we listened to Guetta’s once, straight through, and haven’t listened to it since. With that being said, “4th of July” is more sonically attractive than “Scream and Shout.”

The single leaked the other day and now the video is here for Akon’s “Oh Africa” featuring Keri Hilson and The Soweto Gospel Choir. The song was recorded to benefit underprivileged African youth.
We love the song, although it is a bit more pop than anything African and the use of colors give this video life. Not to mention, everyone just seems to be having a great time.
We still can’t over how people threw stones at Keri Hilson at last year’s American Music Awards when she decided to uncover her forehead. Oh well, no one can say anything because this woman is beyond beautiful.
There was once a time when I had a crush on Jessica White. But the fantasy crush sort of fades when the lady is with a new man more than a few times in less than one year. She is incredibly gorgeous though.
R&B’s top two most fashionable ladies, Rihanna & Ciara, both attended the annual 2010 Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party. Both women were rocking looks that are a bit unusual but looked beautiful doing it. Now only if their music could surpass their fashion interest.
American electroclash band, Le Tigre, recently blogged up a storm about working with Christina Aguilera on her forthcoming album, Bionic. The feminist band stressed about recreating “Deceptacon” for Aguilera:
At first we were tormented by the goal of writing “another Deceptacon” for her, wondering how to crack the code to its energy and production style (“shit, do we have to find an HR16-B on eBay and synch-up a fast beat with a warped guitar sample on an antique Mirage?!”) plus we wanted to write melodies that would showcase Christina’s incredible voice. The pressure was on! But we quickly realized that we just had to be ourselves and put our hearts into pulling together our best demos to play for her.
Le Tigre didn’t stop there, they continued to be in an amazed state at Aguilera’s vocals:
“She is a technical virtuoso behind the mic, layering take after take of flawless vocals and coming up with variations, ad-libs, and harmonies on the fly. And while her voice is like a force of nature, she is completely disciplined in her approach to recording and realizing her vision for each track.”
Later on in the blog post, Le Tigre finally got down to business and spoke about the sound they developed with Aguilera:
“Together we tailored themes and specific references to her personality and image but found a ton of common ground in our aim to make upbeat danceable tracks celebrating female friendship, strength, and of course, PARTYING. And while the giant sound of her stacked vocals and the pop sheen she lends to the tracks might seem at odds with Le Tigre’s aesthetic roots, it really works. The songs have a lot of elements we’re known for, like a garage guitar sound, schoolyard chants, new wave-y synths, electro beats…”
Once again, another piece of info that makes us go crazy in anticipation for this new album. But there has been more buzz in the internet world with three coded videos that seem way left of mainstream. The unconfirmed verdict is that these videos are of Christina Aguilera. Well if it is, she seems to be winning over the hipster crowd, for sure.
News has been circulating the net about the video shoot of Lady GaGa’s and Beyoncé’s collaboration on the “Telephone” video [SEE HERE]. Now, we have two low quality images from the set, one of which shows off a slightly thicker Lady GaGa.
UPDATE: More photos have leaked from the set. [SOURCE] LMAO at them using what looks to be the Pussy Wagon from Kill Bill.
Valentine’s Day is about two weeks and some away and what better than a Robin Thicke song for that day. “Slow Down” is a brewing hot jam from Mr. Thicke that happens to sample Counting Crows‘ “Colorblind.”
The Something Else era was not really our favorite from Thicke but he is really doing his thing with this Sex Therapy period. Thicke really does grown up music well; the music is actually mature without him having to state the obvious like some other R&B crooner… Give this one a listen.

Erykah Badu has enlisted Bilal and Lil Wayne for a bonus web-only track from Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh out March 30. The song was originally due to appear on the physical tracklist of the album but was left off after parts leaked this past December.
“Jump In the Air and Stay There” has a unique production with its funky vibe and space-like sound effects. The combo of Badu’s and Bilal’s vocals sound like brother and sister to Cee-Lo’s… How do you describe Cee-Lo’s voice? Weezy does his usual and lays down some rhymes for some silver lining. All in all, great song and if Badu could leave this song off the album so easily then she must have more great content for us to hear.
