Yves Laurent said “Fashions fade, Style is Eternal”

Here we’ve come to the last and final night of the Islands of the World Fashion Week. Yes it’s sad that it has come to an end but THE SHOW MUST GO ON! An indeed it did. This night was definitely a night for accessories. With eco-friendly purses and pronounced jewelry made by Haitian Designer Murielle Leconte and Swimwear by I-Candy, the crowd was extremely hyped.

It was not until Master of movement, Eric Raisina and Bahamian handbag legend Harl Taylor… Raisina who matched fringe and earthy burnt colors with bright pops of purples, aqua’s, oranges and reds of pouches and scarves and pleating was a show wower. The designer of the night and in my opinion the ENTIRE fashion week was the Harl Taylor BAG collection. His sketches left behind since his death in 2007 were brought to life in the brightest colors and neatest designs. His signature piece of the evening “Pie’ce de resistence” (French term referring to prize piece) made the audience emit an collective gasp at its intense beauty and display. His show ended with the only standing ovation and definitely one that was well deserved.

Overall, the weekend was an amazing one. Seeing everything from the good to the not-so-good but loving every minute of it. Top 5 designers of the event 5) Phylicia Ellis 4) Darcel de Vlugt 3) Eric Raisina 2) Hesani Cay and 1) Harl Taylor BAG.

The night ended and the event concluded with 15 minutes of fireworks poolside at the Sheraton and a bash in the ballroom where designers, press, models, photographers and producers danced the night away.
