After a report on the Fort Hood Corps. (R.I.P.), 20/20 continued on with the first interview with Rihanna since February’s incident. If you thought Ms. Fenty was going to take the road of secrecy as Brown did then you are all in for a surprise. Also, we would like to give a shoutout to The Skorpion for one of his videos making a cameo in the 20/20 special. As they say nowadays, any publicity is good publicity.
Where do we start? Oh yea, HOLY FADDA! Rihanna let the top off and just spilled everything. Asides from the coincidental release of this interview and the release of her upcoming album Rated R, the interview was an intriguing one. It let viewers watch and listen to Rihanna’s side of everything in the past 9 months.
We’re still looking around at our surroundings to make sure this is all real because the interview was just that but it seemed surreal. We were dead set that the corporate powers that hung above Brown’s and Fenty’s heads were putting away all details of this incident but she let everyone know…
In all the sincerity and revelations, we had only one problem. Besides throwing Brown under the bus, rolling him over then reversing and redoing that several times, it was her confession of her parents’ business. Now to most, spreading your business is the thing to do. Just look at Ms. Sawyer asking Rihanna, “Why be so ashame?” Pardon us? Where we come from and how we were raised that is so disloyal to put your parents past incidents out there for the public to eat up. Unless Rihanna spoke to her parents beforehand and they agreed it would be alright to reveal such information, only then would it be okay. If someone throws that back in her face in a heated argument she would be wrong to become upset because no one told her to affirm the A, B, C’s of her parents’ marriage.
It’s apparent that Rihanna does not feel the same way anymore as Chris still feels about her. Her admittance to Chris being very young and only having “yes” people around him was a confirmed assumption of ours. But at the same time Rihanna was 16 when she started so she probably had that same freedom so she shouldn’t be so quick to say that.
It is great that she wants him to succeed and make himself a better person from this because to want him to continue to feel horrible about himself for this incident would just be cruel. The boy is already fighting a battle against the public and he has done everything but get on his knees and licked the ground to ask for forgiveness so that was actually quite sweet and mature of her. It further shows that she really has moved on because in no way is she holding onto a grain of him; both mentally and physically.
In February when the news first broke and a few months after, many said the incident was personal and people should stay out of it. We agree with that statement but then again you cannot forget all the impressionable minds that need guidance. We commend Rihanna for connecting her feelings to the countless other females who may be in a domestic violence relationship.
Overall, the interview was revealing, sincere, insightful and certainly showed off the island girl sass that she has the potential of being unleashed. Everytime we look at Rihanna it’s hard to see a 21 young lady because she does look a bit older and her mind seems to be a lot wiser than her age. Either way, this PR stunt heartfelt interview will help to push thousands of Rated R’s off shelves on November 23, 2009.
