Amerie: Complex Mag + Wendy Williams Performance + ‘In Love & War’ Shipping Issues

The beautiful and talented Amerie is occupied with the release of her album, In Love & War, this week and has been doing some promo for it. Amerie has joined forces with Complex magazine with a feature to help promote the album. The photos are decent; doesn’t seem like that much work and effort was put behind them as previous Complex features. Also, the interview is very brief and discusses only her thoughts on relationships:

Her thoughts on a relationship being exclusive.

Amerie says: Unless it’s been explicitly stated that you two are exclusive, it’s best to assume you’re not. Women date men—as in going out on “dates”—and feel awkward if they run into him on a date with someone else. Trust me, if a man doesn’t say so, he’s not exclusive and probably sleeping with someone else.

Her thoughts on cheating only mattering if it is revealed.

Amerie says: One of the consequences of cheating is that you only trust somebody as much as you trust yourself. Even the whole line of “wanting space”—they’ve probably already cheated at least once. It’s thinking, “I don’t want to risk losing this person, so instead of being honest, I’ll put them on the side while I get all this stuff out my system.”

Her thoughts on women and men settling in a relationship.

Amerie says: Men rarely settle; they won’t wife up someone they don’t feel is worthy of them. A woman can persistently chase a man, and he may sleep with her, but it’ll never make him love her. Yet a guy that a woman’s not interested in can hound her, and if he’s persistent enough, he’ll wear her down. Women are more malleable. Yet, we’re still the smarter sex. Men can’t handle the truth about women—that we can be as noncommittal, manipulative, and promiscuous as they are.

HMMM interesting, her views on relationships are a bit surprising because they are very much similar to the average American male. From reading those three statements she doesn’t seem to go deep into a relationship unless she’s guaranteed her heart won’t be broken but there’s is no such thing as guarantees in a relationship.

View her performance on Wendy Williams as well as her Twitter rant…

Amerie stopped by the Wendy Williams show for a performance of her second single “Heard ‘Em All.”

As much as we’ve developed a liking for Amerie over the last few months her vocals still irritate us to some degree. Besides that, a nice performance, a little more sexed up than usual but very nice. It’s nice to see Amerie getting that promo in, FINALLY!

On another note, isn’t it somethin’ how the mainstream makes a person simmer the heat? Wendy Williams was one edgy lady on her radio show but she lost half of that when this new show came about. Personally, we like her toned down ’cause she was  just too rude and insultive. But hey, she’s finally making her dreams come true and if she has to bend a little to keep them alive then why the heck not.

In other Amerie news, she took to her Twitter account yesterday to vent her frustrations over the problems her label was having with getting her album shipped to all outlets:

I rarely curse, but WTF?!?! Itunes made a major”oops”& the album’s still not avail!! Amazon.com does so u can get it thr. Get it right itunes.

If the store ran out of the album, u can download it from amazon.com…I hope u guys love it! : )

Unfortunately we’re seeing there r huge shipping issues, not 2mention itunes is totally messed up.Amazon.com is bestbet. sry guys!Gta luv it…

DEF JAM, You are full of ‘it! The girl is already predicted to only sell a diminutive amount of records and now she can’t even sell that. That’s a big upset because there were reports that Def Jam was so close to dropping Amerie before her single premiered. If they did not have the interest then why bother at all.

To top this mess off, Little Miss Sunshine Nefarious was put on the iTunes “New Releases” for pre-order. Rated R doesn’t drop for a few more weeks and it gets puts with the newly released albums for pre-order. That’s one of the few times we’ve ever seen that happen. Oh well, good music just doesn’t cut it these days, a supportive corporate army is key to becoming a success it seems.
