• Robin Thicke Gives Television Some Sex Therapy

  In his first televised performance of his first single, Robin Thicke gave an excellent showing of “Sex Therapy” at the 2009 Soul Train Awards. The blue-eyed soul singer wooed the audience with his falsettos and  the sensual/sexual nature of the song.

  Some more promotion like this and hopefully the momentum will pick up behind this project. The single itself is almost at #50 on the R&B Charts. The album looks really promising with guest spots from CuDi, Snoop, Jay-Z, etc… Oh yea, LOL at Thicke rockin’ those tit-tight leather pants. Check out the other Soul Train Awards performances after…

• Leak: Where Is the Shock Value, Timbaland?

  Not too long ago, Timbaland Presents Shock Value II leaked onto the net. The wait has been a long one with the album’s original release date being marked at the end of 2008. So was the almost-year delay worth the wait?

  In a nutshell, HELL NO! As songs from the project started to leak in LQ we were so pumped for this album then the HQ started come around. We became bi-polar towards this album; one song put us in a state of high then the next kept us low and unsatisfied. The song has a track list of 17 songs and of that, there are only 5 that stand out to us…

  Do not get us wrong, ALL of the songs would fit perfectly on Shock Value but the issue with that is that sound was fresh and exciting… back in 2007. Since then, everyone and their damn family had a Timbaland produced song and even the producer with the Midas touch didn’t have enough magic to keep the music lovers impressed. Even with the more alternative artists such as OneRepublic, Daughtry, Jet, etc.. he was not able to create a gem like “Apologize.”

  In conclusion, …Shock Value II is decent compilation of songs from Timbaland; nothing horrible and nothing spectacular.

• Start Your Saturday Night Off With “Girls On the Dancefloor”

  It’s already Sunday morning in some places and only mid-Saturday in other places. Well it’s Saturday night here and we want to leave those of you near, or in this time zone with something that does for your night what Red Bull does for your body; a few hours of pure energy rush.

  Far East Movement released this song last year. The song, “Girls On the Dancefloor,” was made for the clubs with it’s heavy dose of electro and auto tune. We’ll encourage you for just once to leave your brain at home and let loose and let the music take control. Take a listen to their second single, “2 Is Better”…

• 30 Seconds to Mars With Kanye in a “Hurricane”

  This past April, Kanye West posted a photo on his official blog of himself, Jared Leto (frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars) and Brandon Flowers (frontman of The Killers) in the studio. Kanye was in the studio working on a song with Leto for …Mars. Today, the final product of that session has been made available. The song is entitled “Hurricane” and is off the band’s upcoming album, This Is War, which will be released on December 4, 2009.

  The 6:13 long track is a very good alternative piece of music that mixes sounds of real instruments and electronic ones. The song is a powerful ballad and does have some undertones of epic to it. West’s feature takes us back to last year with with 808’s… auto tune craze; he complements the song well. West and …Mars did a great job on this song.

• Britney Spears 7th Album Drops June 2010

  Britney Spears is going to finish up the Circus era with her tour ending in a day. The tour just recently broke a record for selling 66,240+ tickets over 4 nights that earned Spears $10mil. Robots make that money, don’t they? She will then head into the studio shortly after to begin the recording of her 7th studio album.

  Darkchild has already been confirmed for this album which has made many Spears fans excited because the last time they worked together was in 2001 for a remix of “Overprotected.” David Guetta, Danja and Fernando Garibay have also been lined up to produce for the album.

  All we’re going to say is, Britney’s best album, Blackout, was released after a 4 year break.

• Lady GaGa on Ellen

  Lady Godiva GaGa taped an episode for the Ellen DeGeneres show which aired about an hour ago. She performed “Bad Romance” as well “Speechless” from The Fame Monster. GaGa has much to be proud of as “Bad Romance” is #1 on the United World Chart and #2 on the Billbord Hot 100. GaGa’s The Fame has also gone 4x Platinum since it’s release in ‘08.

  GaGa and Ellen together are always fun to watch, eh? People complain that she has so much talent and shouldn’t waste it on pop music. That’s what makes GaGa so great to us is that she fuses raw talent with the manufactured; a perfect balance. • Beyonce I Am… Yours ABC Thanksgiving Special

  Last night a condensed version of Beyoncé’s shows in Vegas, this past September, was aired on ABC for a special Thanksgiving special. The show featured songs from her past and present in a new way. She completely reworked them.

  This was a good special; it’s what we expected. Beyoncé has certainly solidified herself as one of the GREAT entertainers of the noughties and so forth. We’ve seen her switch things up before; her 2008 Grammy’s performance with Tina Turner.

  It is so funny seeing her being the only one of the original D.C. girls performing their past hits. Notice how it’s just her singing and the two back-up dancers; there doesn’t seem like there’s a change at all. We’re not insulting Kelly or Michelle because we like them just as much but it just goes to show that the spotlight was really on Bey. It’s not like if one of the original members was missing then the song would not feel right…

• Common & John Legend’s “Strange Fruit”

  Some new music from the G.O.O.D. family has leaked. “Sttrange Fruit” is by Common and features John Legend on crooning duties. Kanye West and Devo Springsteen are behind-the-scenes on production duties.

  This is definitely a recognizable record from the lot of them. The song is soulful, lyrically deep, has a throwback feel and is overall good music. You have to admire West’s taste in music; he is not searching for the next hitmaker, he is searching for real talent that has longevity.

• Chip Tha Ripper Gets Down

  Cleveland native, Chip Tha Ripper, is about to drop his new mixtape, The Cleveland Show, on December 1 and a new leak has surfaced. This one is entitled “Get Down.”

  Wooooo, that intro is slammin’. The machine gun speed drums then the back and forth bounce beat sets the tone through out the song. We first listened to Chip about a year ago and we liked what we heard then and what we hear now. We will definitely be giving that mixtape a listen.

• B.o.B. Has “Nothin’ On You”

  Continuing the new era of “hipsters” in Hip-Hop, B.o.B. released his first single from his forthcoming album, B.o.B Presents The Great Adventures of Bobby Ray, which will be in stores in April of 2010. The song features Bruno Mars is has a serving of Pop, Rock & Hip-Hop.

  The song starts off with piano chords and the catchy hook sung by Mars. The song progresses into drums and B.o.B’s smooth rhymes. This could easily end up being what “Superstar” as for Lupe Fiasco. He lived up to the buzz with this one and we can’t wait for his album now.
