Part 2 – IMPRESSIONABLE MINDS: Are Parents Raising Followers?

brainwash

Dear Readers,

Continuing from our post yesterday, “IMPRESSIONABLE MINDS: Secret Societies In the Music Industry”, we have decided to question the minds of most of today’s youth in the 2nd and final part of this topic. Yes, of course there may be people who have the power to brainwash but how easy is it for those people to carry out such an act. This is where you step back and look at the situation as hey, to a certain degree no one is to blame but the parents of the youth.

In many cultures, especially North American, so much pressure is put on public figures to be perfect role models for their admirers; the younger part of society who may look up to that person. The funny thing about this situation is once a public figure messes up you’ll see certain groups in a tirade, parents insulting a person they don’t even know and good ol’ random people just threatening for the corruption of the minds of the youth. Well, okay, what are the parents doing? They are indirectly motioning towards the fact that they are the childrens’ legal guardians but those successful and powerful  strangers should influence their lives just as much.

We are believers that the building of a strong foundation starts at home and that’s why you have different levels of morales in a society because not everyone does have a strong family support system. But for those who do and still have guardians and parents bickering about why Senator X is leading such a horrible life or why does Popstar Y sing music that will corrupt the innocent children, it pretty much seems that the parent is pushing the child to follow whatever these public figures do.

So in raising a child like this it becomes natural for them to pick up and emulate what they see out there in the public without taking time to stop and question whether they’re doing the right thing. And by doing the right thing we do not mean it by society standards because that can be foolish as well but to make the choice that will not harm the individual and avoid any negative effects that could show up 10 years down the line.

To cite an example we’re going to use the Honor Student who was beaten to death in Chicago recently. Before we state anything, there’s no telling the way these boys grew up or their current living conditions. Along those lines we do know that all the boys in the school wore uniforms. You mean to tell us that none of those boys come from decent homes because wearing uniforms is more of a non-public school thing in the US. So the question arises? Where does that behavior come from, who or what provokes it?

None of the outsiders can exactly answer who, where, what and why but there is a possibility of what may have caused these boys to act that way. One reason being the Hip-Hop culture; the glorification of greed, fornication and violence. The MTV and BET generation see it all, everyday, and overtime it influences them all. It gets to the point where being that way is the popular way and anyone who speaks out should be teased or receive a beating.

To bring this to a wrap we see this as many parents putting too much into the celebs, etc… to lead their children instead of saying to their child, “Look, I am your mother/father and even though there are endless amounts of temptation out there just bring it back and remember the values we instilled in you.” This further leads to the children looking up to artists, celebs who may not be the best role models until they all are mimicking the wrong choices because “it’s what we do.” In the end the youth is putty in the industry heads’ hands and they are molding them in any which way they want.

Call us insane, or any other derogatory statement but that’s how we feel. Also, we refer to children, teens, etc… under YOUTH in this second half because any age level above that a person should be able to decipher and make decisions on their own.
