This morning on z100, Leighton Meester called into the Ryan Seacrest show to premiere her first single, “Somebody to Love”, featuring Robin Thicke and produced by Mike Caren. She seemed really excited to finally to let the listeners hear it. The single is from her yet-to-be titled album in which she hopes to be released by this year’s end.
Before we get into this, Leighton Meester is similar to Cassie when it comes to vocals; sensual talking who can hit a few notes. The difference between Meester and Cassie is that there’s a charm and certain sparkle that comes through when a Meester song plays. With that being said this song has a catchy hook and we can see this receiving fair play on the radio even if it’s due to Meester’s prevalent popularity from Gossip Girl. Robin Thicke is not giving his all on this song instead he he’s fully aware of the nature of the song and delivers some complementary vocals.

Naa I like Cass but Leighton can sing. I’d suggest tracks like Bette Davis eyes and Body Control among a few others. This song yeah it may be comparable with Cassie’s but nope she can hit more than a few notes lol.
I loved Bette Davis Eyes, not so much Body Control. I just find Leighton more appealing, as crazy it may sound.
Cool. I was just making sure you weren’t comparing the voices lol, because I think Leighton is much better. Although I just saw a video of Cassie performing Let’s Get Crazy live at club Karma and she sounded pretty good…
