Alicia Keys Says It Doesn’t Mean Anything

alicia keys doesn't mean anything

Hot off her performance at the ’09 VMA’s Alicia Keys builds the anticipation for her forthcoming studio album by personally releasing her new single ahead of it September 30 radio debut via Youtube. What’s a greater feeling than knowing you have full control over your music rather than the leakers? The single entitled “Doesn’t Mean Anything” sees Keys collaborate with long-time music partner Kerry Brothers, Jr.

Alicia Keys took the same route as “No One”; a pounding drum line with a commercial undertone but the exception of this new single is she tones it down many notches. Where “No One” was loud with a bass line to knock a person out “Doesn’t Mean Anything” still displays the strong vocals of Keys; the raw and heartfelt lyrics but production-wise it’s a watered down version of her what we received last time. The song is very radio-friendly and will boost Keys to the top of the charts and will be a perfect song to end off an episode of one of those prime time drama shows.

With that being said and contrary to popular opinion right now, we’re not feeling this song as much. It’s a great song but nothing too grabbing. When “No One” came on the radio we would stop to listen to it almost every time but this song could easily be switched if not in the right mood for it. It’s definitely a grower.
