Here’s another new song from Basement Jaxx and Kelis. This new song is the title track from the former’s upcoming studio album, Scars. The song also features the UK’s Meleka and Chipmunk.

The production on this song is INSANE; love it! It sounds like some sweeping epic opera sound with a contemporary twist. Meleka is featured as the main vocalist, Kelis sings the hook and Chipmunk lays down a verse. Unfortunately, the production is as good as it gets. Kelis’ minor hook is drowned out by the production and while Meleka’s and Chipmunk’s parts are alright they still don’t beat the production.

Hearing Kelis on a song like this has us anticipating her upcoming projects. Scars is in stores September 21, 2009.

UPDATE: A week and a day later and we get to hear the album version that trillafood told us about. Semtex tweeted the song. The instrumentation is the same except for a few changes here and there but the vocal arrangement is completely different. The song is about 30 seconds shorter, Meleka’s verses are less as Kelis’ are more. Kelis’ vocals are also polished so we don’t have to strain to make out what she’s saying. Chipmink’s verse is the same but sounds less corny this time around. The song just flows better after the mastering and this is definitely the HOT jam of the day; at least so far.
