Just before, we brought you the 10 second preview and now here is the full version of Mariah Carey’s second(official) single of the 1984 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner.
IMPRESSIVE! Mariah has brought the voice back from The Emancipation of Mimi era. After a string of generic songs from E=MC² and the buzz single “Obsessed” we get to hear that classic sound that the “lambs” have been waiting for. Not saying this isn’t radio’s close friend either because it has a lot of mainstream appeal which should help this to reach #1. When listening to it, it screams international which should help it reach high in the radio charts of many countries and will even have the average listener tuned in. This is not the greatest Mariah song but it is the best from her in some time. The only complaint is it seems as if the song fades too quickly despite it having a time of over 3 minutes. Mariah Wants to know what love is! I think she definatly knows what it is as her voice climbs higher and higher at the end of the song! but i wanted the song to last let’s say 45s more!! but it’s a good job afterall
love the beautiful piano intro, the gentle vocals at the beginning and the great ending. it’s not quite immediately impacting as old covers like Without You or I Still Believe but it’s growing on me.
Yea, the song just ended too abruptly almost like it was an extended snippet.
It’s funny tho, a lot of ppl said she was just breathing/whispering but in the full version it all comes together. I also agree, it’s not her best cover but after a few listens it has the listener hooked. I’m just glad she’s really singing.
