Frankmusik ‘Complete Me’

The Electro-Pop world has listened to Little Boots and La Roux and now another highly anticipated act from that genre recently released his debut LP. Vincent Frank a.k.a. Frankmusik finally released Complete Me yesterday, on August 3, 2009 across the UK.

2008 had Frankmusik marked as one of the new Pop acts to look out for but he too suffered from the dreaded pushbacks. The question was whether or not the death of his initial hype would affect the interest when it was time for Complete Me to be released? Well that’s something to be determined after the first few weeks of sales but more importantly did the long duration affect the final product…

In collaboration with mega-producer Stuart Price a.k.a. Thin White Duke, Frank has concocted a heavily synthesized group of songs with a heavy 80′s presence. The album is definitely an acquired taste; the listener will be filled with joy from beginning to end or will be quick to discard it. This is not to say anything horrible of this debut as those who know anything about a good Electro-Pop album will most certainly give this a near perfect score.

The album is like hair full of highlights. There are the ballads and then there are the up-tempo hits that will kick the energy level up at any party. It’s obvious that when a ballad plays the initial thought is that it’s about love or melancholy but what happens when a feeling of sadness lingers around the up-tempo tracks. Yes, although you feel a sense of happiness listening the highly processed beats you can’t help but hear Frank’s expression of heartbreak. This is because the album was written and produced after a break-up. We say this to mention that songs like Your Boy and Vacant Heart will leave you calm and composed while others like Better Off As 2 and In Step will have you jumping up to the ceiling. Complete Me is in stores Now. Pick it up HERE.

Your Boy starts off with Frank solemnly singing about a failed relationship but quickly finds him begging for a pardon in a hook of grandeur proportions.

Your Boy

Better Off As 2, the first single, which has become the love anthem in many Dance clubs. It’s basically Frank confessing that it’s time that he and whoever he is with needs to be together over a light-hearted up-tempo beat.

Better Off As 2

Made Her Smile, which is actually from the Frankisum EP has managed to stay a favorite of ours. It’s a pity this uptempo beauty did not make the album.
