Good Morning to you all. It’s July; a new day and a brand new month. So what’s on the list for today’s posts? How about an aspiring artist named “James R. Weech” who goes by the stage name “Gizzy”. Gizzy is a Bahamian currently studying at the University of Alberta. He’s been hard at work on his music for the past 5 years and now that he is at a comfortable point he is ready to share his talent with the public. Spending the last 5 months working on this mixtape, Gizzy worked overtime within the last week to complete it.

Musically, Gizzy cites Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams as his main musical influences. This in fact makes him on another level compared to other Bhamian rappers as the majority of them are taking too many notes from Lil Wayne. Gizzy further states that although Lupe, Kanye and Pharrell has influence… he’d rather not compare himself because he’s not trying trying to emulate the sound of either of the three.

So what does C.S. think of the mixtape? This is definitely a project that conveys hard work, passion and effort. He already earned points by differing himself from the rest of BA. Some songs you may recognize the instrumentals from other artists and some are original or manipulated. Either way they are all well chosen and crafted to fit Gizzy’s deep and rhythmic lyrics. For a first mixtape, this is a very good start and we look forward to seeing this young artist grow into maybe an international artist.
