A personal favorite from The Fame, “Paparazzi”, received the video and single treatment recently for the UK. Now it’s hear in it’s entirety, almost 8 full minutes. That’s right this banging song didn’t get just get any old video treatment but was morphed into a mini-movie. The video was not supposed to premiere until next week but you know how leakers go.
The brief rundown of the mini-movie is GaGa’s lover uses her for fame, she catches on then retaliates, winds up getting injured causing here to seek revenge after her recovery and going to jail for it.
This video or shall we say contemporary pop masterpiece is hands down a top contender for the best video for a song in 2009. The ability to pull of that avant-garde atmopsphere for such a mainstream pop song is on point. The cinematography is courtesy of Jonas Akerlund who has produced some videos for Madonna, whom everyone likes to compare GaGa to. GaGa also puts her little curvy frame to work into a well placed dance break and carries out some robotic poses. The excess sex and violence oversaturates the video but many will argue that she is just trying to get her artistic point across. Nonetheless the video is great and we’re glad “Paparazzi” was chosen as a single.
